Interesting with Taarabt that he did Onouha’s podcast a few years back and was very introspective about how he had sabotaged his own career and had only put the dots together when dumped into the benfica reserve team with 18 year olds. It seemed like he had finally grown up.

Brilliant for us for one season, in the Championship, no doubt about that. Quickly found out in the Premier League, don’t recall him playing at that level again though I stand to be corrected.
At the risk of being accused of playing Old Man Top Trumps, I’ve seen Francis, Bowles, Thomas, Marsh, Wilkins and Les, and Taraabt doesn’t hold a candle to any of them.

I'm sure he would've thrived had Warnock stayed. Badly mishandled by Hughes and Redknapp.
You've only got to see how brilliant he was in that Chelsea win at the Bridge to know that he could do it at that level. He was immense that night. Also class goals against Fulham, West Ham and Arsenal, in a team full of charlatans. [Post edited 23 Jan 10:37]

Was he found out with us? He played a major part in us staying up that 1st season and was our best player by miles the second season until redknapp threw a wobbler and dropped him after he missed a penalty against Norwich, that performance at Chelsea was incredible
he never hit the heights of 20 goals and assists in the Prem but he did a pretty decent job for us
I think Adel not hitting the heights of Stan, Marsh etc is not a bad thing, very few players do reach those heights | | | |

He was technically better than all those players you named; he could do anything they ever did but none of those could do some of the things AT did.
He had more than one good season with us too. That 1st season in the EPL was only worth watching because of him and Townsend. This is a hill I would die on. | |
