Southampton At Nottingham Forest The Verdict on 09:55 - Jan 20 with 1676 viewssaintwizzler

Juric is turning out to be an odd appointment.
We don’t know wether he will be here at the start of next season.

Is he just a caretaker?

Could he become the first (I’m guessing) Southampton manager to have a 0% League win record?

WE MARCH ON

TRUST THE PROCESS

We thought that we had the answers, It was the questions we had wrong.

Juric was always an 'odd' appointment - a guy with no PL experience, let alone experience of a PL relegation scrap.

What he's turned out to be is a disappointing appointment. First Saints manager to lose his first five games isn't he. And losing his first five games is not really what we needed.

He started well. The first half against West Ham was great But the second half and then most of the game against Palace was poor and Brentford was a joke. He then got something going for most of the Utd game only to have his team concede 6 goals in the space of 53 mins between the end of that game and the first of half of the Forest game. Only then to turn it on again in the second half at Forest.

Maybe we'll get a game when this sort of erratic nonsense will end up with us on the winning side, but it will entirely a question of luck.

Your unrealistic expectations are hilarious. Under RM, Saints were a total sh*t show. You don't go from that to good in 5 games. As Jo Tessem said, we somehow got a win against Everton but there was no chance of another win this season under RM. Meanwhile we used up all our easy fixtures.

Now we dominate Man U away for 80 mins and then with no turn around time, 3 days later, we very nearly get a draw away to the 3rd place team while our best player is out injured.

Juric is a football manager not a miracle worker. Sorting out the mess he inherited is a fvcking enormous task that will take time. Relegation is inevitable, all we can hope for is improvement. It is bound to be a mixture of steps forward and steps back. Give him a chance.

He's all over the place. And I'm not sure that's what we need. That's my only point.

He'll be given a chance by the club and me too - I will be very happy to see some consistency and better results arrive - but for the moment it's a 5/5 loss record and that's disappointing.

Had he picked up even 5 points from those games, we'd be on 11,only 6 from safety and on the up. But he didn't. No points.

Is Juric going to be our manager in August?

Is he here just to see out the season?

£5m to get Danny Rohl in hopefully to be here until he moves on to bigger things (meaning he’s been successful) or buying another central midfielder for £10m.

We don't know the terms of the 6-month break clause.

If he wants to stay, and we'd rather he didn't, it could get difficult again. Not to mention expensive.

Juric might claim to have watched lots of videos of Saints' games before he came to us, but he'll know a heck of a lot less about the Championship.

We would want any new manager in place in advance of pre-season training.

Well said, Ifonly. The squad's confidence must be terrible at the moment - largely because David Brent made them play in a way which was tactical suicide, week in, week out. Addressing that crisis of confidence in itself would challenge the best coaches. The damage has been done, and I'll take any game in which we compete and get stuck in whilst also minimising the errors. He's also already got a couple of them playing at a level above where they were two months ago and he's made some sensible positional changes eg Dibling and Sulemana further forward. Juric has a bit of leadership and discipline about him which is very welcome right now.

Also, fitness takes time to build up and there is a clear correlation between lack of fitness and making mistakes - something Saints have been guilt of all season. Martin clearly was a very lazy manager - not just in this respect but also going into Winchester instead of watching Saint's next two opponents. I really pity whichever team he joins next (please make it Pompey!).
