That's a heartwarming update and good to hear all the work being done, well done groundstaff! Still in the balance but we might just get lucky.

Coming up from Buckinghamshire for the game so hoping it's on! The rain is forecast to clear in the morning, so hopefully they will leave the covers on until the rain clears and the pitch will be playable.

The BBC are forecasting heavy rain for the next 12 hours added onto the 4/5 hours we've already had. I wouldn't set off tbh save your petrol.

It's been raining heavily, non-stop, for hours in OL11. The forecasters have got it right, so far.

50mm of rain here since it started around 12pm Friday. A very wet day for us. If there's no miracle solution from the covers and verti-drain, then wetsuits will be required to get a game on.

Virtually impossible for the pitch to cope with that level of rainfall, even at its best. The rain is still hammering down now. Forget today, fingers crossed for Saturday.

HNY all.

For it’s worth Halifax v AFC Fylde is postponed due a waterlogged pitch.
No surprise there with the Shay pitch as it is.

No surprise after the amount of rain we’ve had. Even if we didn’t have ongoing issues with the pitch there could have been issues.

Hopefully we can get the frost covers on to get Saturday played. Then got to hope the work to improve the drainage removes some doubt every time it rains.

Both Clubs have been quick to e-arrange the match for this Saturday as neither are involved in the FA Trophy. Could do with Fylde win to keep the Shaymen at bay, can't see it though.

It will be interesting to see those clubs subject to similar levels of rainfall that get their games on today.

A millimetre of rain falling on a square metre of pitch = 1 litre of water
At 105 m x 68m, the pitch = 7140 sq metres x 75mm of rain = 535,550 litres of water that fell on the pitch yesterday and today (or for us oldies 117,805 gallons).

The average monthly rainfall in Rochdale for January is 110 mm...over 75 mm of rain fell on the pitch in the last 24 hours.

Watching H'pool V Latics......pitch is wet and slippy and strong wind effecting high balls. Decent fare from both teams though.

Latics leading from a Lunstrum worldie, worth having a look.

Accrington’s groundsman has said on Twitter that they had 90mm of rain and their pitch is fine.

They had a lot of problems in the past, with the pitch actually flooding in that corner near the away end at times, so had it totally reconstructed about 5 years ago.

I had to make a visit to Accrington's Wham stadium when they were doing the work, it looked more like a building site than a football pitch, obviously paid off for them.

Ironic that Waterfall has equalised…

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

Fair point Kel but Accy is on as is Radcliffe.
About time people (& not just on here) stopped blaming previous regimes & the club got off their collective backsides & found a solution, albeit temporary until we can sort out something more permanent. I don’t know if this is correct but I was told by a friend that Mr Gauge allegedly said “the pitch is a loss making part of our business so we haven’t invested in it “.
If that’s the case it frankly beggars belief, if we can’t put games on you’re looking at a useless piece of grass with 4 stands round it. Can’t blame the club for Owdum or today but to have the only postponement on the top 6 leagues (Boston) was lamentable. Add to this we are IMO in 2 useless tinpot cups- my only interest is getting out of this league- & we’ll be struggling to fit games in as it stands, never mind future pitch issues.

Hope the Hartlepool players didn’t run after him when he celebrated the goal.

His Grimsby team mates did when he got a last minute winner at Spotland in 2022. Foolish.

Any pitch is a much larger "loss maker" if you can't get any bank holiday or Sat games on as the crowds suffer too for midweek rearranged games

Barnet, Oldham, Forest Green and Gateshead all losing at the moment.
Might be a good day after all.
