Surprised not to see one yet so here goes, thread virgin breaking his duck.

Would love to be optimistic but Carrow Rd seems to be like a mirror to a vampire to us. Talking of vampires, hope to see a reaction from that Boxing Day horror show.
2-1 to them.

That’s a good point on the road .when I seen our defence. I feared the worst .
I didn’t see the game and heard Norwich had
Some very good chances .
We had lots of good chances against Watford and should have won the game same as we should have comfortably beaten Preston.
We did neither. It’s the way it goes.
I was hoping a month ago to be in touch with safety. We’ve pulled our selfs clear even with a huge injury list.

We have got to the transfer window clear of the bottom three. Some astute wheeling and dealing and we should be OK. However, I don't agree with Marti when he says he is happy with the squad and I believe we need to try to trade 5 members of the squad this month if we are going to make any year-on progress this year.

Pleased, just frustrated as f**k conceding that late.

All our points seem really, really hard earned though, don't they?

Can we go out yet?

I have a full tank of diesel and happy to drive madsen to whatever far flung corner of the world where he can get away with calling himself a footballer !

We literally go down to 10 men every time he is on the pitch

Very happy with that. It was always going to be a tough second half with our current squad status.
I find the critiscism on here laughable.

Technology advances, unfortunately humans do not.

Cifuentes said he was happy with his players. I read that diffferently to him saying he was happy with his squad. I love the notes in my wallet, but I wouldn't mind a few more of them.

Straight after the Nardi save from the header he just wafts a foot somewhere near the ball when it needed to be booted anywhere. It’s like he’s high.

Yep, take a step back from the emotions of conceding at the end and that is a very good and hard earned point. After Swansea I was fully expecting another tonking.
Back to the training ground and then we go again.

The Norwich revenge narrative didn't play out too well for them.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

We've been over this already, but at the end of August Marti also said he was almost perfectly happy with the squad he'd/we'd assembled. It'll be interesting to see what, if anything, happens in Jan.

Poll: Playoffs?

The mother of mixed emotions this evening. Given the tame defeat to Swansea on Boxing Day and the losses to injury of Messrs Cook and Morrison, I would've bitten your hand off for a draw at the start of play. However, the late equaliser and wins for Hull, Cardiff and Stoke has taken some of the gloss off this result.

However, overall I'm staying positive by placing this result into context. A point away from home and 5 points clear of the relegation zone going into 2025.

Yeah really, all things considered, it's not been a bad day for us.

Yes, the headline on that WLS article was misleading. He was quoted in the article as saying that the club is looking to improve in all areas and that they have daily discussions about it. As you say, not someone happy with the squad as is.

Budgies vs Rs Match Thread on 17:57 - Dec 29 with 2729 viewsWilkinswatercarrier

Agree. He is happy with his players they are grinding out the results, but Christ, the squad is thin.
We desperately need reinforcements so we don't get sucked back into the relegation zone.

Budgies vs Rs Match Thread on 18:07 - Dec 29 with 2644 viewsstainrods_elbow

I'm not sure it was misleading as such. I read 'all areas' to mean across the club as a whole, not just in recruitment, picking up e.g. on his recent reference to ameliorating our fitness/medical record. On that basis, I think 'my players' refers to the squad by definition, especially in the context of 'let's see what happens in the next few weeks' and 'we try to improve every day, not looking at just at [sic] the market'.

Managers always want more/better players, of course. I guess the next month will tell us a lot, and perhap the messages may evolve again.

Do people think we'd be able to sell Madsen in January if we tried? I thought it was interesting that he's now clearly fallen down the pecking order below Anderson. Hopefully means Marti can see how useless he is.

Had 48% in the first half, assume 40% in the second.

Apart from a lack of game nous in the last 15 minutes, that was a really solid effort today. Ashby and Paal excellent. No complaints from me.

Yes, it remains a shocking league. Rarely do we get outclassed in a game, but its even more rare that we are comfortably in charge. It's just slop. We're not clinical by anyone's definition and we've been let off the hook by teams just as much.

Today's possession stats were better and there were spells when we actually strung passes together. Although the prevailing discussion on here is how Illias "holds on to the
ball too long" and other such shite, the reality is that we keep the ball far, far better when he gives an option, controls the ball well and rarely loses it. No coincidence that even lil' Kenny Paal resembles a competent footballer when Illy is there. If only we could combine that with a striker than reliably holds up the ball and some progressive midfielders running off that striker. Kolli has much energy, but the ball rarely sticks with him; Frey is not back up to speed and even when / if he gets there, I am not convinced he is the hold up man we crave.

So, we're play shite and win and we'll play shite and lose. Same with most teams in this league; just got to hope we're less shite than the oppo more often than not for the rest of this season.

A welcome point today; three would have been too much to expect from that starting XI. The fact that we got close says so much more about Naarwich than us...

Can we go out yet?

Its a game of opinions, but yours is ridiculous. We are who we are, just got a point and a couple of minutes away from three, away from home, injury ravaged, played pretty well for two thirds of that.

I want us to be where we were in 1976 but we're not, we're a less than average second division team with a good young manager and a couple of decent players. Plus great fans.

Either enjoy that and hope we progress or else glaze over and take no notice.

We all would’ve taken these results a few weeks ago when we were bottom and starting to get cut adrift.A good point today given the current injury crisis, even if we rode our luck at times today.
A much happier new year than it was looking like in November.

I think we should all assume that the manager can spot a good or bad player at least as well as any of us.

What is notable about Madsen is that in the various debates about players I've read here this season (which, off the top of my head, includes Celar, Kolli, Smyth, Varane, Saito) Madsen is the one where I can't remember anyone defending him beyond the obvious need to give people a chance when they first sign.
