Which QPR player had the most dramatic fall from grace in your experience. What I mean by that who started absolutely great and ended up as one of the worst and how can we explain it all? Seems to happen to quite a few QPR players

Samba diakete was absolutely set to become a qpr favourite. He was absolutely mental - his Fulham display saw him chop down their opponents and get two yellow cards quickly and we all thought we had a head case. Then he really kicked on and his displays the rest of the season were immense. Loved him. He worked well with Taarabt, cisse etc

Then we signed him permanently I think and he just lost it. Does anyone know what happened and why? Was this mark hughes influence?

Who else have we got? Stuart wardley perhaps

Think Leon Jeanne wins this one.

It was quite serious mental health issues with Diakite wasn't it?

Clive did a good piece on him on a match preview last year - not the Daily Mail stuff but witch doctors and general struggles with reality.

Pretty sure someone on here bumped into him at a game at Loftus Road a couple years ago and he said he still comes to watch when he is in London? Strange, strange player.

I thought we'd got the next Patrick Vieira after that half season Samba had. Yeah....maybe not.

He was only good for a minute though.

Stuart Wardley is a good shout.

Jon Spencer maybe? First season he was on fire. Next season he was an aggy little prick who couldn't score.

Didn't Diakite witness a massacre in Mali or something?

Marc Bircham not a fan. In some podcast or another says Diakite refused to play / train until the club paid for a witch doctor to remove a curse.

A good few of that 2018 England team have fallen down a well.

Ali, Lindegard, Dier, Maguire to name a few. Demonstrates what a good job Southgate did getting them to a semi.

Edit: Dier has rallied and now playing for Bayern haha

Clark Carlisle.

Serious mental health issues, incl several suicide attempts.

Unfortunately I might’ve been a factor in his demise as I once called him Marcus Bignott as he was walking down the stairs at Loftus Road.

Rob Green

Absolute king shit for ages and then got the wobbles.

And then went and joined Chelsea as their 15th choice keeper.

I f**king loved Rob Green until then.

Rashford too. From the sound of it Alli and Lindegard had issues from their childhoods that may have contributed but it's also got to be something to do with the amount of money and opportunities you have as a young footballer these days. Rashford's wage is ridiculous considering what he's contributing on the pitch. Back in the day you might have been dropped or transfer listed and then it was up to you to respond. Must be less of an issue when you're on £325,000 a week, however motivated you might once have been.

Really?
I thought he was shit from day 1. Day 1 being the infamous hiding Swansea gave us. Weetibix gloves for their first goal.

Then there was the 2010 World Cup, enough said.

He was decent at Championship level granted but I still find it baffling that we signed Green and ousted big Paddy who was probably on less than 20% of Green's wages and probably a more reliable goalkeeper.
Imagine the cost saving of not signing Green and Cesar that season. An area that wasn't a huge concern anyway.
But, at least Kia Joorabchian got paid.

I reckon Luke Freeman has to be one of them or even Lee Cook. Absolutely immense and kept us up as a one man team in their respective seasons, both were sold and barely kicked a ball in anger ever again.

Esteban Granero. Thought he looked superb in his early games then went a bit rubbish/lost interest. Think he could have done much more.

Ashley Young v Shaun Derry.

That was a very dramatic fall.

Have to agree with Leon Jeanne.

But Todd Kane worth a mention. Never recovered from that interview he gave to RGeneration three years ago. Now playing for Ebbsfleet United.

I think you have to be at least partially vertical in the first place to constitute a fall

Some recency bias here, but one of the worst things about the season before last (the Beale/Critchley/Ainsworth season) wasn't so much the non-performance of Beale's cohort, as the loss of form of formerly reliable players like Johansen and Dickie.
