It's not a case who do we want.
With SR it's a case of "Who's the cheapest"

Get Nathan Jones back in. He’s got unfinished business here.

Jose Fonte on a short contract until the end of the season would ge good. If it works, great; if it doesn't also great as a new long-term manager wouldn't be tainted by our relegation. It's not going to happen as our owners have no connection with him, but I think he'll make a great manager.

Solskjaer has arrived in this country, looking for a job, so there's a chance it could be him; I think he was mainly interested in the Wolves job as he was at their last match. I guess he'd be an improvement on Martin but I'm not particularly enthused by him.

Kjetil Knutsen would be brilliant if we could get him, but as he's already turned down a string of clubs, including Ajax, I doubt he'd come here.

You can scrub Potter, Nick, as when the club contacted him, he said he wasn't interested.

Poll: Who will win the Premier League this season?

Given the situation I think Fonte has to be ruled out as he has absolutely no managerial experience and has shown no inclination to go into it, preferring to keep playing now turned 40.

Nothing wrong with that, but we need someone who has experience at this time.

Some are ruling Lallana out for the way he left the club, if that is the case then Fonte has to be ruled out as well for the way he left in 2016/17 season.

It needs to be someone with at least some track record of managing or coaching, if we went for either Lallana or Fonte it would be crucial to have an experienced assistant alongside them

Only one name here I would go for but simply cannot see it as he is too good for the Championship. He also doesn’t come from the school of fist pumps and bantz.

There really aren't any who would even consider it that look like great choices. That's down to how SR have mismanaged the whole thing. Their football decisions have been an ongoing disaster.

So, on that basis we have to go for something of a gamble and the best gamble for me is Danny Rohl. It's encouraging to see that the bookies have him as favourite at the moment. My guess though is that he's also unlikely. He may think he's at a better club now and it may prove difficult to even be allowed to talk to him.

Fonte and Lallana have to be ruled out for their lack of managerial experience, Potter and Moyes won't risk their reputations on a club that is destined to go down. Leaving up and coming Championship managers or a punt on a someone from abroad.
Danny Rohl knows the club, was involved in Ralph's first year, his most successful, and it was noticeable that we struggled after Rohl left. He's had top level experience as the assistant at Bayen Munich and saved Sheffield Wednesday from relegation last year. This year they're near the play-off places. So taking the Saints job would see him still in the Championship next year but with greater resources and parachute payments to buy his choice of players and properly mould the team in his image.
He will also gain valuable PL this season and just maybe....might pull off a miracle.

Michael Carrick from Middlesbrough doing an excellent job. Worth a punt. Or the guy from West Brom doing well with no money whatsoever.

It won’t be a big name that’s for sure.

Great job for someone next season, if they want to relocate to the sunny south; say Salisbury, Bournemouth or Winchester, and have no absolutely pressure from the fans this season, and develop a pattern of play.

Might have to sell the Dibling guy and maybe a couple of others though.

I am afraid this is exactly what will happen
Cheap option and Championship level, we are doomed until we have new owners

Fonte said in an interview at the last Euros that he was doing his badges and was open to it. Maybe he could get his mate Ronaldo to help out. Though was not the greatest for United, he may do a job for us.

I don’t understand the clamour for Rohl, just because he was briefly here before. He has zero of managing in the Premier League.
But, if we’re going Championship I would go for Carrick Done well at Boro, and his playing career alone would be enough for the respect of the players

Steve Cooper has got got to be a good shout.
Leicester were not in bottom 3 when they sacked him.
Knows the Championship.
Took Swansea to two playoffs Inc one final.
Took Forest up first time of asking and then kept them up in their first season.
Ticks all the boxes for me.

We played Corberan (West Brom bloke) 4 times last season. We won 3 times and drew once. I can't see him being much of an improvement on Martin.

He's done pretty well everywhere he has been despite having no money to spend.

He achieved miracles at Huddersfield in almost getting them promoted.

You're right about the results against West Brom, though I thought we were lucky to beat them at home in the League, and we could easily have lost at their place in the play-offs.

Be realistic!
If you were Potter would you come here? He can wait for West Ham where he'll get more money to spend on players, or go to another a medium sized club that isn't in immediate danger of relegation.

It was remiss of me to overlook that Corberan could hardly have been expected to get the better of Saints, when we had Super Sekou running riot like prime Drogba in both the games at The Hawthorns.

SR are doing the same again: getting another manager of a mid-table Championship team and expecting the results to be different. Is it just Ankersen being stubborn; refusing to admit that he's wrong?
