He’s been sacked at Wolves today only a few days after getting the dreaded vote of confidence.Shame really and there didn’t seem to much support from the board over the player sales in the last couple of years.

Disassociated himself from his players yesterday which was only going to lead to one thing....

Agree , but I think the last minute goal done him anyway

His interview on motd last night sealed his fate I guess.I hope he doesn’t go to millwall, but he’s a football manager with a family to support.

Clearly a lot going on behind the scenes there. Players have been a disgrace and the board haven’t adequately replaced the likes of Kilman.

I think he’d be a good fit for Millwall.

I think he can reasonably expect to set his heights a little higher than Millwall.

He's just got the sack from a PL club, he won't need to get another gig this week so he can buy a turkey for his family's Christmas dinner.

As was recently said of Smythy, he has lovely (? porcelain) dentition!

I recall with a shudder that shot of his jettisoned incisor in the play-off semi vs Wigan. Looked like a freakin' mini-UFO!

Poll: What should the club do now (assuming no imminent change of owners)?

They're doomed. Down with either Leicester or Ipswich and Southampton. Could be another season where 32 points is enough. Which is ridiculous.

Their next 8 games after a 'six pointer away to Leicester' is something like:
Manchester United
Tottenham
Nottingham Forest
Newcastle
Chelsea
Arsenal
Aston Villa
Liverpool

By that point it will be the middle of February and I'd be amazed if they were on anything more than 15-16 points.

The reaction of a few wolves players yesterday was disgusting.

Hope he finds a new job soon. Just not in the championship!!

Good post I have the PL package and Wolves are on a lot with O Neil looking more and more frustrated by the week.
He is always going on about Officials and bad breaks his team gets as well which did not help him.
Lack of dicipline from his players was the final nail it sounds like and once he pointed the finger there they dropped the ax on him.
He will probably sit out until another PL team comes calling after this payout and it looks like he needs that time off from that stress

Oxford manager gone as well. The mid-season panic is setting in

Had completely lost the squad and had been clearly losing the plot himself for a while. Best for him and the club that he's out of there. Obviously the replacement is already ready, Vitor Pereira, Portuguese journyman who is an obvious agent pick. Classic Wolves

I know a Wolves fan here and happened to bump into him yesterday. He was pretty sure GON was Gone, fans liked him but had lost confidence in his ability to lead the team etc etc.

Best thing that could have happened to him. Place has gone toxic with players losing their heads.

Holloway next, slated the Swindon fans the other day, that only ends one way. Hasn't learnt his lesson.

Wow !!

What a run of games.

Of the top nine teams currently only Manchester City not to be played.

Could very easily get very low single figures out of that future fixture list. Or even a big fat zero.

Be hard for them to recruit a new manager with those games coming up.

Jinx warning:

I say this knowing full well it's QPR and nothing surprises me, but isn't it fcking delightful not to be involved in it for once.

Makes sense for him. O’Neill is a Bromley boy and Sean Derry lives in Beckenham.

I like him and think he has been dealt a tough hand, what with the lack of recruitment.

I just watched the highlights from the Wolves Ipswich game and Ipswich's first goal was a real fluke. Admittedly, Wolves were under the cosh at the time, but one Wolves player deflected an Ipswich shot away from the net into another Wolves player, who deflected it straight into the net. So unlucky.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

Appointing another Portugeezer, just what they need.
