Slack Jack should get the sack. 20:32 - Dec 4 with 3208 viewsGRIM

Disgraceful behaviour from Slack Jack.
Alright it wasn't a sending off offence, but what an idiotic thing to do.
He's not just useless he's stupid too.
2nd sending off in a couple of months he is not a good example & should immediately have the Captaincy taken away from him.

100 per cent it was a sending off. Stephens should never wear the shirt again. He’s shite anyway.

I have said this many times he should never have played for us since that abysmal Cardiff game seasons ago
Yet here he is still being sh1te and still getting picked
How many games between his last stupid red and this!?!

With our main Central Defenders unavailable this was the chance for Captain jack to step up and show both leadership and above all responsibility. The whole team, manager and coaching staff demanded it.
But what did we see? The complete opposite and another shameful red card for the 'skipper'. The only thing that could possibly be more disgraceful would be hearing Martin defending the player again and keeping him on as Captain. But I wouldn't put it past him.

Correct, unfortunately the pulling of hair does count as violet conduct. He made a meal of it, but brain Jack played right into his hands.

WAC

Captain setting the wrong example once again.
I really don't know what he was thinking and how he thought he would get away with it.

Absolutely pathetic. It's bad enough playing a team like Chelsea with a depleted squad, but to give them an unnecessary man advantage is totally unacceptable.
He has let himself, his team mates, his manager, his club and it's fans down and simply cannot continue as Captain.

Then on top of that, there is his 3 match ban to kick in when we are in the middle of a injury and indeed a defensive crisis.

"I don't think anyone will be more disappointed than Jack," Martin said.

Really ? I think 1000's of Saints Fans are more P****ed off than him. Sack him.

Martin has to make an example of him after 2 pathetic sending off.

So Stephens pulls the guy's hair and is DISAPPOINTED!

What rubbish Martin talks. And I suppose for the few minutes he was on the pitch he was "brilliant"!

Not defending Jack, but how can a little tug cause someone to collapse apparently in pain and injured!!!
Play-acting of the highest order.

Cucurella has done it before and the other player who grabbed his hair didn't get a red card. Defenders routinely grab forwards' shoulders in the penalty area and get away with it, but, Cucurella's got his long hair covering his so you can see how it happens in the heat of the moment.

Cucurella is a little cheat, who uses that hair to deliberately cause problems. He stands in front of players, especially goalkeepers, and rubs his hair in their face to distract them. He should have got a yellow card for simulation when he lay down on the pitch for 2 minutes, clutching his face, just because of a gentle tug on his hair. Stephens was stupid to get suckered in by him though, but, as I say, he's by no means the first to do it- just the first to get a red card for it, although Cristian Romero got a yellow card for it when Chelsea played Spurs. Let's face it, if it had been a player from one of the big clubs, he wouldn't have got a red card last night.

Tellingly, I don't think we even noticed Jack's absence.

When we are hoping for a longer suspension for our captain, FFS, things have never looked so bleak.
This Kafkaesque situation merits a quotation from the man himself:"There is always hope but not for us "

IF VAR could direct the ref to Slack Jack's merited red card, how come it didn't direct the ref to Cucurella's play acting, as this also merited a card?

This is bang on.

I’ve always hated Cucurrella because he’s a little cheat and he constantly dives and feigns injury but is never punished for it.

Send off Stephens, fair enough, but you can still book the cheat for feigning injury.

You cannot reason a person out of something they were not reasoned into.

How girly is Jack Stephens anyway - pulling someone's hair FFS?

I'd expect to see that on a junior school playground - but a grown man's professional football match?

Has Stephens apologised to the club and more importantly the fans he let down ? As Captain I would have thought he might have issued a statement. If he doesn’t then he should never wear the shirt again.

He has deleted one of his social media accounts, so is under no illusion how the fans feel about how his petulant and unprofessional actions were received.

I still believe he should be heavily fined and shown the door. He is not good enough to start in 1st 11, and would not be missed.

Before all the JS supporters jump to his defence by saying what a great servant he has been, that is because of the generous contract and remuneration he has and would not have got any where else. He wouldn't even be in the Prem or Championship if he wasn't with us.

Apologised yet Jack ? Or taking advice from the fraud manager and blaming everyone else ?

100%, Lamest red ever! Cucurella desrved the red.

I wholly disapprove of what you say and will defend to the death your right to say it.

I agree Cucurella made a meal of the incident, but what did we expect ? He has history of these theatrics, so why give him the opportunity ? It was a stupid, petulant action and the 3rd time in the space of a few months Stephens has let our club down. First that mad tackle at Man U, then not happy with that he mouths off to officials to get a further ban and now acts like a 10 year kid in a playground.

I am not surprised at the negative response he has received, but he only has himself to blame.
