I agree with your sentiments, but on the whole I think this place is actually quite civilised compared to much of social media, although I have to use the Ignore User button more than I used to and I'm a bit selective about which threads I bother to read.
I think it's quite heartening that people have asked after Antii and Paul and that Clive is able to fill us in.

While its regrettable that social media in pretty much all of its various guises is toxic and, I'd suggest, at the root of a lot the world's problems, I also think some people need to grow a pair!
If you disagree with someone who has a different view, deal with it. Sometimes I read stuff and while I might not agree, I can at least see where they're coming from. If their view is generally accepted as being stupid or they're being a prat, then if you engage, accept you might be dealing with an idiot or move on.
After that, and I keep selling it: use the ignore button! If you think the site is still toxic, just leave! Good luck finding any social media platform that isn't or wont turn stupid anywhere!
But whatever you do: stop crying like a baby because someone you think is a wally is spouting off. And you're right, giving yourself a break from this and social media in general if you're not enjoying it, is valid. This site aside, I'm either off or not on any other platforms and thus, my exposure to toxicity, idiocy, and aholes has been reduced...albeit one always gets through! [Post edited 27 Nov 2024 6:28]
