Re election 19:18 - Nov 24 with 2842 views | Boundy | I see that an online petition to call for another general election has now reached a million votes , not going to happen but a more oil on the fire of Starmer's tenure . "An online petition calling for another general election to be held has surpassed 1 million signatures after thousands more signed it every minute. The call to action was started by small business owner Michael Westwood four days ago. Mr Westwood told the Express he thinks voters feel "betrayed" by Labour and that the "promises that were told" ahead of the July election "looking nothing like" the reality. Described as Britain's fastest-ever growing petition by commentators, the campaign has been backed by a number of political figures including Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, who said he had "never seen anything like it" after watching 750,000 signees add their names in just 24 hours. Former Tory leadership contender Robert Jenrick said: "Over a million people have now expressed their fury that Labour lied at the general election. "Starmer shamelessly said one thing to get elected and has done the complete opposite once in power. Nobody will ever trust a word he says again."

Re election on 10:46 - Nov 26 with 810 views | Whiterockin | If you were forced to vote there would need to be an option, none of the above. People are disillusioned with politics and the quality of the candidates thats why many don't bother to vote.
Re election on 11:11 - Nov 26 with 785 views | Scotia | You can spoil your ballot paper now. I worked at a few elections counts a while back, we used to see all sorts written on them.
Re election on 11:27 - Nov 26 with 777 views | Joesus_Of_Narbereth | Yeah there’s something seriously wrong if a party can win four hundred and eleven seats on a low turnout with a vote share that would usually result in electoral oblivion. Apathy rules.

Re election on 12:18 - Nov 26 with 762 views | Gwyn737 | Unfortunately we live in a world were you have to, at the very least, bend the truth in order to get elected. Pretty much every govenment ever has put up taxes in their first term, finding an excuse to do so. If they'd been up front they probably wouldn't have been elected in the first place. Most probably know this as demonstrated bythe number who voted Labour and reget it (on the other thread) is zero. It was obvious taxes needed to rise. Some are more extreme than others. That's why I thing Reform as a protest vote againt this kind of thing is nuts. Of all the parties they're the ones offering golden unicorns. As for the petition, it's pointless really. It's at 2.6 million. Even if it rose to 9 million, after the inevitable bots are taken out you'd still probably end up with the same result, before thinking about the democracy side of it.
Re election on 14:28 - Nov 26 with 709 views | AguycalledJack | After 100,000 signatures isn't it the case that a petition can be up for debate in parliament?
Re election on 14:50 - Nov 26 with 694 views | Boundy | "A new forecast shows Labour would lose its majority and Reform UK would double its number of seats if a general election were held tomorrow. The Nowcast model reveals that Sir Keir Starmer's party would lose 106 seats, which would reduce the party's total to just 305 MPs. This is below the 326 seats needed for a majority." Hmmm

Re election on 15:12 - Nov 26 with 673 views | Whiterockin | Yes. It will get nowhere except get publicity and give the other parties a stick to beat Starmer with.
Re election on 15:31 - Nov 26 with 652 views | Scotia | It's a complete waste of server space. It shouldn't even warrant a debate.
Re election on 15:42 - Nov 26 with 649 views | Gwyn737 | ...and if we ran the Brexit referendum now, some forecasts show it would be reversed. We can't run politics like that. [Post edited 26 Nov 2024 15:43]

Re election on 15:45 - Nov 26 with 636 views | controversial_jack | Exactly, we don't have a direct democracy where the ppl vote on every issue
Re election on 15:52 - Nov 26 with 633 views | majorraglan | This petition and all the hype around it is nothing but baloney, we have this government for the next 4 years and 7 months. They’ve got a huge majority and they can pretty much do what they want to do. There’s a lot of talk about Reform, but apart from their stance on immigration we’ve no real idea what they’ll bring to the table going forward. Their last manifesto and the tax cuts promised were completely uncosted, we need honesty not fairy tales. Reform did promise changes to the NHS and an insurance backed system, be interesting to see how that looks and how it would impact on pensioners.
Re election on 20:00 - Nov 26 with 573 views | SullutaCreturned | Well the politicians who won had been lying about what they'd do..... But no, the fools who voted for Labour can suffer along with the rest of us. The only upside is at least it's not the tories anymore.
Re election on 20:24 - Nov 26 with 568 views | Boundy | Maybe its baloney but its an indication of how some within the country feel ,its not a good look, yes we have another 4+ years ahead so going on past history each Government runs out of steam towards the end of its tenure , this lot really need to up their game or they won't last regardless of who wishes otherwise. You're right, we do need honesty and so far Labour have proven unable to provide it,

Re election on 03:23 - Nov 27 with 524 views | Kilkennyjack | So the people who were lied to and mislead - and voted to damage their own country can sneer at the people who tried to tell them that Johnson, Moggvand Farage could never deliver sunlit uplands. Brexit has delivered increased illegal immigration and less monies for schools, hospitals and law and order. Plus the army and roads. Well done Brexidiots, great job.

Re election on 15:16 - Nov 27 with 445 views | SullutaCreturned | Yeah but the forecasts all said we'd vote remain in the first place, you can't trust forecasts, you can't trust politicians because they lie. People need to suck it up and let Labour have their full turn. I'm not keen on them but what other options (viable options) are there?
Re election on 16:55 - Nov 27 with 428 views | Joesus_Of_Narbereth | Less money? There’s more money flowing into the treasury the tax take has never been so high. There’s less money because of the spunking away of money on an almost criminal scale for the best part of forty years.

Re election on 17:43 - Nov 27 with 396 views | SullutaCreturned | From where I am the only one doing any sneering is you. Johnson, Mogg and Farage couldn't deliver Pizza's so the sunlit uplands was no surprise. Now about the money...
