Most people in the lower and upper loft could see that their player handles the ball before he puts it into the net,but how did Gavin Ward see it as you can’t really see it from the angle they show on the tv?And why did he wait so long before blowing his whistle?
If he’d blown straight away,surely there would’ve been less drama from the Stoke players and fans about it.

He did the right thing. It was a handball. He waited to see what happened after the player touched it. As it was straight to be a goal he had to blow up. It’s irrelevant whether it was deliberate or not. Had the player passed it to someone else and they scored it would have been fine. I thought Ward did a good job yesterday. | | | |

According to that link a team can gain an advantage by a player handling the ball but not the player who handles it.

If Ward would’ve blown his whistle as soon as the offence occurred there wouldn’t have been anything to combust about,but by waiting for him to score it made it look worse.

Not sure the Stoke fans did themselves a favour by constantly singing about him being a self-pleasurer even when they were ahead. Must get into the ref's head when it's that loud and that prolonged. But that's exactly how the law works. You nod off for a second at the wheel and jolt yourself awake, no crime. You nod off for a few more seconds and plough into the barriers, reckless driving. You nod off for a few more seconds, plough through the barriers and onto a train track, causing an oncoming train to derail and causing the death of some of the passengers, you are charged with manslaughter. It’s different with var to back them up and I can see why Lino’s are reluctant to flag for offside,but we haven’t got var in the championship,so if he sees something that is an offence,which it obviously was,then he should blow straight away. | | | |
