Cifuentes gone? on 10:40 - Nov 26 with 3264 views | Superhoops2808 | At least he knows the problem. I dont think Celar is is crap, I just think his confidence is shot to pieces. Had that penalty gone in on Saturday, things would have been whole lot different going forward I believe.
Cifuentes gone? on 10:53 - Nov 26 with 3165 views | Loyalitat | His confidence is shot. All the more reason why the designated penalty taker, Madsen, should have taken it, especially after scoring the last one alongside our inability to score in open play. We could have won the game if it's converted. It's professional sport, it's ruthless and there should definitely be no place for sentiment. Instead, Charity Park Rangers spurned an excellent opportunity to score which would have taken us to being just three points behind Cardiff. [Post edited 26 Nov 2024 11:25]

Cifuentes gone? on 11:02 - Nov 26 with 3087 views | FDC | I was strongly of the view Madsen should have taken it given the dire circumstances we're in, but i understand the counterargument and it isn't about charity or sentiment, it's about taking a calculated risk in the hope it kick starts some goal scoring form for our only striker [Post edited 26 Nov 2024 11:03]

Cifuentes gone? on 11:12 - Nov 26 with 3007 views | CiderwithRsie | This is the frustrating thing, if Celar really was just crap then I don't believe he'd have scored all those goals in Switzerland or got into the Slovenia national squad, which is far from terrible. As transfers go, it's not like Conor Washington (or, I think, Dykes) where we took a gamble on a player being able to step up to the next level, it's more like Jamie Cureton who had scored loads at Bristol Rovers and Reading (I think both in the same division as us at the time,) did nothing for us and then IIRC did OK for himself after he left us.

Cifuentes gone? on 11:46 - Nov 26 with 2716 views | Loyalitat | I take your point entirely. However, why heighten the risk further. Our position in the league is parlous already. Madsen would have been less of a risk in that particular situation, as according to the latest match report, he has successfully converted his last 13 penalties. One confident penalty taker: 13/13, versus another player totally shorn of confidence, and we see it fit to allow the latter to take a crucial penalty. That's being charitable. Cifuentes gone? on 12:04 - Nov 26 with 2589 views | BrizR | Got to be quite a rare circumstance for a team to be bottom of the table in the kind of form we're in and there's near-universal support for the manager staying in the job. Says something about Martí that the fans and players seem to still be with him.
Cifuentes gone? on 12:16 - Nov 26 with 2499 views | BlackAndGoldRanger | YES! weirdly I was talking about this recently. At least we won otherwise there would have been many a feather spit.
Cifuentes gone? on 12:21 - Nov 26 with 2450 views | Ned_Kennedys | I had no problem with Celar taking the penalty at the time: all the fury is with the benefit of hindsight as the bloke missed. Cifuentes made it clear that both Madsen and Celar were designated penalty takers and Celar scored a good penalty against Luton so does know how to take them. Also the booing of him when he was substituted was pathetic.
Cifuentes gone? on 12:23 - Nov 26 with 2434 views | Stainrod | A crucial difference tho: Curaton - from memory - cost £50,000, Celar was rumoured (stand to be corrected) to have cost about £2m. We must have paid that believing we had bought a proven, ready made, high scoring striker.
Cifuentes gone? on 13:25 - Nov 26 with 2068 views | hubble | On the 1888-1915 series Ordnance Survey map you can see the outline of what would have been Shepherd's Bush FC's ground, boundaried on three sides by a school and the houses of Ellerslie and Loftus Roads - exactly as it is now - and the fields of Old Oak Farm to the North. South Africa Road didn't exist then. Shepherd's Bush FC were disbanded in 1915 and we moved in in 1917. So clearly the answer is we need to change our name to Shepherd's Bush FC to appease the unhappy Life in the Bush of Ghosts. [Post edited 26 Nov 2024 13:30]

Cifuentes gone? on 13:26 - Nov 26 with 2050 views | Superhoops2808 | I am afraid we should NEVER boo our own player no matter the circumstances. In Celar's case, it just weakens that already shot confidence even more. In his Pre Cardiff interview Marti has stressed how we need to get behind the players no matter who they are. At least he admitted it was easy to ask and harder to do so he knows the situation the side find themselves in
Cifuentes gone? on 14:30 - Nov 26 with 1755 views | mart_Goblin | Totally agree with the final sentence . Never ever booed our players or team once in my near 50 years of going and I wouldn’t start now . Although I do feel a bit hypocritical, as what is the difference in me booing him , or me giving him a gobful as he trudged off …which regretfully, is exactly what I did . And I wasn’t the only one either . Far from it . It seems an odd premis to me that I can tell him to do one , in colourful language , but booing is a “disgrace”? That’s not really making any sort of point , just more of an observation. I just snapped with the guy . I gave him the benefit of the doubt for months , like settling in, doesn’t speak the language, maybe it’s a languid style that is deceiving …etc.. But his inability to just be on side even when we are not particularly attacking just threw me over the cliff . Madsen’s penalty taking has been well documented even in his introduction to the club , so with that in mind I still find the decision of Madsen throwing the ball to Celar ridiculous and unprofessional. I think Madsen, Cook and Marti have to take a bit of responsibility also . [Post edited 26 Nov 2024 14:31]

Cifuentes gone? on 15:13 - Nov 26 with 4672 views | robith | I dunno, I haven't seen lots of evidence that suddenly he's going to kick into life. But then he makes it very hard to defend him. Some guy behind me on saturday was berating him for "being on the wing" when pulling wide in the box for the 1-2 with Smyth (rather than staying marked by 3 men). I said he wasn't on the wing, he was trying to make space. "He's shit mate, you're an idiot". Well, both true, but accuracy matters. Then he missed the penalty about 5 minutes later. He's has that worrying knack of being a second behind good. And as the sample size grows, it could just well be that's what he in fact is
