Bantams to chicken out at the JCS against the Colchester Eagles 22:22 - Nov 15 with 1945 views | durham_exile | Tomorrow is the battle of the goalkeepers Sam Walker who is 6ft 6ins, (but we reckon he’s eight feet tall) and Matt Macey who is a more realistic 6ft 7ins tall. Graham Alexander brings his Bantams into Town with a string of indifferent recent results and they will be looking to put things right at the JCS. Whilst the Super U’s fresh from their point at Barrow and handsome victory over Arsenal U21’s on Tuesday will be looking to build on that morale boosting victory. I drove the 80 miles last weekend to Barrow and for 91 minutes thought that it would be a repeat of recent defeats at Holker Street but then brilliance from Thorn, Tovide and Taylor and we were level and taking a deserved point home. DC lined up Gordon Taylor Macey Hunt Flanagan Donnelly Iandolo Woodyard McDonnell Anderson Payne Subs Egbo (for Hunt 36) Goodliffe Hopper Read Smith Thorn (for Anderson 79) Tovide (for Woodyard 70) We started brightly and should have been 1-0 up early doors but Gordon couldn’t hit the side of a Renault Espace and the chance went begging. Then Barrow scored a decent volleyed goal and we all thought he we go (again). I am still unsure just how many of the faithful travelled. I reckon about 100 but I have seen differing figures. But it was the same old fear factor, we played backwards and sideways passes, with Hunt, Flanagan and Gordon the worst offenders. Hunt was injured and the excellent Egbo came on after 36 minutes. HT and it was still 1-0. The temperature was dropping and the makeshift stand which affords the most unbelievably appalling view with supports, floodlight pylons and advertising hoardings all playing their part in obscuring the view. I preferred it when we were at the far end of the ground (where the Barrow Ultra racists stand). Second half proceeded in similar vein until the 70th minute when Samson Tovide came on for Woodyard. At last, some attacking intent and Taylor had some support in the final third. Things improved still more when the pacy Thorn came on after 79 minutes for Anderson. Then we had real pace down the right flank and an equaliser looked possible. When it came it was sublime a great move involving Thorn, great pace and strength from Tovide and an inviting cross for Lyle Taylor to sweep into the net on 92 minutes. We deserved it and the timewasting from Barrow had backfired. If only the referee had been more accommodating to Samson but it seems he is not only a marked man by defenders but also the referees union. Tuesday night I relied on Sky Sport + unlike the 4,265 who gave the JCS great atmosphere. DC lined up Smith Egbo Donnelly Goodliffe Iandolo Anderson Payne McDonnell Read Hopper Thorn Subs Harrison Chamberlain Flanagan (for Iandolo 46) Woodyard (for McDonnell 62) Taylor Sandah (for Anderson 62) Oliver Godziemski (for Payne 82)Rashaad Drysdale for Egbo 82) Now this was a game that I really enjoyed. From the outset we were at the races. Arsenal youngsters weren’t allowed to dwell on the ball, we adopted a high press and committed bodies forward. This was surely the football that DC and NC were brought in to adopt for our club. A flowing move with the excellent Thorn and near passes resulted in Hopper sweeping home after 16 minutes. Anderson scored a second just before half time and the imperious Egbo scored a magnificent third on 50 minutes. Egbo is every bit as good as Junior Tchamadeu and when he goes forward things happen. My only fear is that the vultures will be circling come January. It was a comprehensive victory against a Premier League U21 side but we never let them play at all. So, what happens tomorrow when the Bantams are in Town. DC will play a team more akin to the Barrow game. He will play Anderson and probably Gordon and start Flanagan. However, let’s be bold and imaginative and go with: Macey Egbo Donnelly Goodliffe Iandolo Read Payne Woodyard Thorn Tovide Taylor Subs Smith Flanagan Anderson Gordon McDonnell Sandah Hopper I’m going for a 2-1 Colchester win with Taylor and Tovide on the scoresheet. Weather 11 degrees Celsius light cloud with a gentle breeze. Decent crowd possibly 5,500 (1000 from Bradford). Enjoy the game. Up the U’s

Bantams to chicken out at the JCS against the Colchester Eagles on 15:49 - Nov 16 with 1047 views | wessex_exile | Good performance, disappointing scoreline. Sounds too familiar, but I'm taking heart from that performance so far. Commentary trying to be fair to the referee, but to me he's been poor. That foul on Taylor looked a nailed-on penalty.

Bantams to chicken out at the JCS against the Colchester Eagles on 15:50 - Nov 16 with 1042 views | franksic1988 | Before everyone moans about the ref…. Another excuse for DC … Taylor’s was a total dive…. He see the player coming and just threw himself… Better second half needed… Let’s hope DC the PE teacher has got some inspirational words… Also after 1 short corner why is the set piece coach not getting one of our players to stand on the closet players toes so it can’t go short. Bantams to chicken out at the JCS against the Colchester Eagles on 16:19 - Nov 16 with 949 views | Moor_Pinot | Indeed Durham. Clearly the Arsenal win was of no intuitive value regarding today's XI. Flanagan, Gordon, Hunt and Anderson are non lg players yet are chosen above the likes of Jay. It's all rather baffling but I spose we know what we're doing. Trouble is we're 21st as usual.

Bantams to chicken out at the JCS against the Colchester Eagles on 17:03 - Nov 16 with 837 views | Moor_Pinot | Another 1-2 from the U's odd bunch of journeymen. Sadly the bottom of the table is beginning to get more adrift so a long season inevitably awaits. Shame we sold Ihionvien and Wilkinson - he scored several again today - and don't play Jay. No continuity and little direct forward play . As such maybe we play for draws? Long way to go and it'll feel longer than that.

Bantams to chicken out at the JCS against the Colchester Eagles on 17:19 - Nov 16 with 777 views | franksic1988 | 100% you have to give them credit for scoring and the effort to keep going….. but this is really nothing more than papering over the cracks… robbing Peter to pay Paul. The last 2 games have been late equalisers. Until we have a new set up we will not get any better in reality…. The Chuckle brothers live for another pay check …. But this means we are subject to non progressive football by a couple of PE teachers…. Credit for keeping going.. grinding it out… but in reality what are we celebrating
Bantams to chicken out at the JCS against the Colchester Eagles on 17:28 - Nov 16 with 754 views | 442 | I wish you’d stop being so derogatory towards Danny Cowley. Your constant reference to him as the pe teacher is starting to run a bit thin. Since he was last a pe teacher he’s won 6 league promotions He is a good manager that will get us promoted. He just has to turn the ship around and he is doing that. If you can’t see that you have the footballing brain of a peanut. You seem to turn up on most col u forums in the guise of franc something or other and your main objective always seems to be to create as much negativity as you can. I notice you’ve stop pushing the Ben Garner narrative recently since you were pulled up on it on the Gazette forum. I don’t know why you’re so negative towards Col U maybe you’re a binner or a shrimp who knows. I I’ve got your card marked.
Bantams to chicken out at the JCS against the Colchester Eagles on 17:32 - Nov 16 with 746 views | BLACKCAT | Indeed, that is six 1-1 draws in the league already. At this rate you'll match our "unforgettable" 2018-19 season when we drew 1-1 fifteen times in the league and 1-1 with Walsall in The F.A. Cup Second Round for good measure. Obviously today felt like a point gained but there have to be some wins soon surely!
Bantams to chicken out at the JCS against the Colchester Eagles on 17:37 - Nov 16 with 734 views | wessex_exile | We're celebrating a strong performance against a very good side. We're celebrating making ourselves hard to beat. We're celebrating not giving up. We're celebrating team spirit. We're celebrating a well-deserved point that until the 99th minute it didn't look like we'd get. Yes, we're not in a good position right now, but when you're fighting for every point today was exactly what we need. Undone by a ping-pong half chance to the best striker in the league, but that is what defines adversity. We came back. I'll bet the journeys back to West Yorkshire are far more miserable than those for U's fans across the world. And yes, I get DC used to be a PE teacher, I used to be a fish chef in BHS - doesn't define who I am today.

Bantams to chicken out at the JCS against the Colchester Eagles on 17:41 - Nov 16 with 730 views | Moor_Pinot | My fingers are permanently crossed Blackcat. Would like to see more consistent selection if possible with a two man attack. Maybe that could lead to to those wins rather than draws! But I'm sure this sick old worm will turn soon. I dream of mid table but I'm sure we'll achieve it.......at some stage! Up the "1-1 specialist last minute one prong attack U's!!!"

Bantams to chicken out at the JCS against the Colchester Eagles on 17:51 - Nov 16 with 719 views | franksic1988 | With fans with an attitude like this…… is Robbie Cowley really to blame …. I mean fair play if that’s your outlook. But your knowledge of the game must be one up from a cat or dog. Maybe the Chuckle brothers are a good fit for the club… this will be the last I post of forum…. It’s clear that genuine footballing knowledge and debate is long dead

Bantams to chicken out at the JCS against the Colchester Eagles on 18:16 - Nov 16 with 685 views | wessex_exile | Why, because supporters (I'm a supporter btw, not a fan) disagree with you? Sorry you feel that way - I've offered arguments to debate, you've chosen not to. The U'sual has always been a broad church and I hope it remains so, but we don't really take well to personal insults, we've had our fair share of those in the past. I don't claim any specific knowledge of the game other than 50+ years of following the U's.
