We will have 4 points at Xmas 19:42 - Nov 9 with 2349 viewsIfonly

With RM in charge I can't see us getting any more points from this run of fixtures through to Xmas:

Liverpool H
Brighton A
Chelsea H
Aston Villa A
Spurs H
Fulham A

No manager on earth would want to come in after Xmas with 4 points on the board. If we don't get rid of him in the international break then the season is over.

If Martin is still here after the international break we will be relegated.

We'll be relegated anyway. Liverpool, Brighton, Chelsea, Villa, Spurs next, we won't be getting any points at all, regardless. Those are some of the best sides in the league. No manager in his right mind would come in with those fixtures and a likely relegation on his cv.

"Whichever style of play you have, the game is about beating your opponent and dominating your opponent and we don’t do that quite enough yet."
Russell Martin.
Yes but your style doesnt allow that to happen. Please go away now.

Correction we will finish with less than 10 points, if he gets the sack we might get 18. The board completely f()cked this season

It doesn’t matter because we are already relegated.

Why will Sports Republic want to waste money they haven’t got sacking and replacing him ? They are a business ( agreed not a very good one ) and there is absolutely no upside whatsoever for them in dismissing Martin.

Of course it matters, as bad as they are they don’t want to lose the fans, keeping Martin for this and next season will be a disaster for them.

They won’t “ lose the fans”.

We have been absolute pants this season since the very first defeat at Newcastle yet every home game is pretty much a sell out as were some of the games in The Championship last season.

Most fans want to see us play in a league where we are at least competitive and win a few games without interference from V A R.

The fans didn’t desert the club when we relegated from the Premiership before and they won’t again when we go down this time.

If we get about 12 points and stick with Russell the fans will not turn up, no chance

Why hasn’t this clearly useless, posturing, self-regarding, utter bag of shite manager not been fired yet?

WHY?!?

The fact he is still here is just laughable now and it has been for months. I feel apathetic about the defeat today because it is the same story every week - possession, no goals and no intent, stupid mistakes in defence = defeat.

There are zero signs of improvement - we should have got hammered by city, somehow only lost by 1, we squeezed out the flukiest win of all time against everton and got what we deserved against Wolves.

Enough, stop taking the piss out of fans. The apathy is growing and it's ruining our club. Been supporting Saints since the mid 80s and this is up there with the most turned off by our club I've ever felt.

Having watched MOTD I do have some sympathy for Russell, how VAR can disallow our goal and then let Wolves 2nd go is beyond me but it doesn’t change the fact we were slow and pedestrian and caused no problems 2nd half.
Sacked today please.

They will lose the fans.

Personally, I would not even consider renewing my season ticket if the idiot is still our manager.

Me also. I can’t believe it’s come to this, but I will
Not be renewing if that man is still in charge.

Your loyalty is admirable and important. However, prices will be frozen or go down. Plenty of fans will take up the chance to see Saints win again and this squad is championship quality. They'll do well, especially as they are so versed in the possession style unlike championship counterparts. Plus saints won't be punished as much as in the PL.

So, in short SMS will be pretty full and owners don't care if it is long term fans/renewers or not

We saw towards the end of last season that opponents in the Championship had cottoned on to how to counter ponderous Russball. There's no guarantee that Saints would be even close to promotion next time.

Had several looks at both 'controversial decisions' and thought Cameron made far too much on the feint challenge so I think the Wolves second was fair, legitimate and actually a good refereeing decision.
The MF challenge was a case of the Wolves defender stretching and sticking his leg across MF trying to reach the ball. That could work 50/50 depending on the ref - I think this time the ref was too weak and felt obliged to agree with VAR and give in to the pressure.
I didn't see the whole game game so I can't say whether Saints deserved to get anything from the game but frankly, we're simply not good enough to compete effectively at this level. And weren't from the beginning of the season.

It's a dangerous assumption to make that we would go straight back up with Martin.

While Moyes had a relegation with Sunderland, it didn't seem to harm his career.

I'm far from convinced that Martin has enough about him to recover from the shitshow that this season is becoming.

Get Ruud in now. Money won't be the main issue for him, but he's said he wants to manage a Premier League club and if we offered him the job today, before any other job becomes available, he just might take it.
