After today all over bar the shouting, but 10 reasons to be cheerful. 17:19 - Nov 9 with 2675 viewssaintmark1976

1. Relegation all but assured, so we can now prepare early for The Championship next August.

2. Championship ticket prices won’t go up and may well come down.

3. More games to watch in The Championship.

4. No V A R in The Championship.

5. Sports Republic don’t need to waste any more money in the January window because we already have a Championship team.

6. Sports Republic can sell our few decent players to help balance the books.

7. Sports Republic can look forward to their second set of parachute payments in just three seasons.

8. In The Championship we may well win more than the odd one game in eleven..

9. Fair chance of a couple of local derbies.

10. I can’t think of anything else.

An all round win situation for both us fans and Sports Republic, what’s not to like ?

I only have only ONE reason to be cheerful. That that bearded clam of a manager gets the heave-ho. NOW.

Get that asshat out of the club.

Sad fact is, you are spot on.

What most of the Saints fans hope for is to score enough points to beat Derby's lowest ever Prem total and try to avoid a double digit defeat in the forthcoming hammerings we expect to happen as Dressing Room morale, injuries and suspensions affect us.

11. Real fans. No glory seekers

12. Championship is better league. Far more competitive and with play offs more interesting.

13. Don’t have to listen to the media love in with Liverpool and all things Pep.

Realist.

Are you enjoying this season in the fantastic best league in the world ?

Or was last season much more fun ?

Will you enjoy it in 3 years time in the Championship when we've run out of parachute payments and RM has turned us into Swansea? I'd rather fight against that outcome myself.

How Forest and Brighton fans must envy us.

There's never been a better time to be in the Premier League, since the 2015-16 season. Almost any team in the top half can qualify for Europe.

Are you sure it will be fun?
We will lose some of our better players.
Not sure I want to see us playing Pompey the way we do.

I'd rather be in Forest or Brighton's position now than in Sheffield United's or Watford's. I'm sure Sheffield United and Watford's fans would too.

Half of these Championship benefits ended up being nonsensical last time. The prices weren't always cheaper, the football wasn't always better (though we did win much more), the atmosphere was still crap most games, plastic fans still exist and the ones you wish to go away never do. I could go on.

It's a sh*t league to lose in and we were lucky to go up at the first attempt. It could so easily go a different way.

Edit: also the b*stard kick off times. The Premier League late Sunday night vs Tottenham is odd but I could've sworn in the Championship 3PMs went extinct for a good while.

We enjoyed it under Poch and Koeman, if we could survive the first season there's no reason a good manager and owners couldn't have success with us.
....just look at Bournemouth, Brighton and currently Nottingham Forest.

Next season will be horrible: the worst remnants of a totally demoralised team, going through the motions. and fans disaffected with the owners and possibly still Russell Martin and his slow possession football. The only glimmers of hope, Ramsdale, Dibling, Fernandes, will be gone.

Derby finished 18th in the Championship after they were relegated with the previous lowest Premier League points total ever.

I agree. I never bought into the hype around RM and "modern football", but plenty did and that gave positivity last year even when we struggled. How can that be true again in the Championship next year? Everyone will know that if we get lucky again and are promoted, then the same disaster will happen again in the PL the year after.

We'll also have Bazunu coming out of the woodwork again, to ensure we stay near the bottom of the table.

Any league is great if you’re winning games.
Last season was great as we were winning games.
What happens if we’re not next season?

Will we become another Blackburn, Swansea, Derby, Stoke, Norwich…
The list goes on.

Think of the financial impact.
Jobs went last time.
Plenty of crap kick off times in The Championship too.

I want my team to be in the highest league possible.
1 season in The Championship was enough.

We thought that we had the answers, It was the questions we had wrong.
