That has been debunked many times. At best he may have overdubbed a few parts on stuff they recorded in Hamburg that were later released in the US after they hit the big time i.e. with Pete Best and pre-Ringo.

Ringo played on all their sessions from 62-70. Mark Lewisohn's excellent 'The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions' details that.

Yep it’s true. I’d like to say that he didn’t know what he was talking about but of course he did.
