US Election thread 10:22 - Nov 3 with 7348 views | Gwyn737 | Still so unpredictable. I reckon it’s a toss up between two outcomes. Either the polls are right and it’s Trump (just), or their madly off and it’s Harris by a big margin.

US Election thread on 05:56 - Nov 6 with 538 views | Joesus_Of_Narbereth | I’m confused. All the media organisations of the world say that Trump is predicted to win North Carolina but Kilkenny Jack said that some bloke on Twitter drove around for weeks counting dead deer and billboards there and said there was absolutely no chance Trump would win there. I don’t believe that a bloke on Twitter could be wrong, especially after such forensic research.

US Election thread on 06:21 - Nov 6 with 521 views | Joesus_Of_Narbereth | Perhaps the deer ate the billboards which caused them to choke to death? I can’t think of any other explanation? 🤷♂️

US Election thread on 07:14 - Nov 6 with 456 views | Dr_Winston | Yep. As I said earlier, the Dems could have avoided this by not pretending that Biden hadn't spent the last couple of years being propped up, Weekend at Bernie's style and run a proper Primary campaign. Instead they tried to bluff their way through it, and then when that didn't work have to panic and install the most hapless Vice President of my lifetime (and I remember Dan Quayle) as their candidate, then spend the entire election process pretending that she hadn't been laughed out of the contest in 2020 for being hopelessly inadequate, and was in fact the ideal person to be President. US Election thread on 07:39 - Nov 6 with 401 views | Dr_Winston | We also have a Foreign Secretary who has gone on the record as calling the US President-Elect a "woman-hating neo-Nazi sympathising sociopath" and a "tyrant in a toupée". I mean, giving that cretin one of the Great Offices of State in the first place was a brain fart of significant magnitude, but getting him the hell out of it before January should probably be a priority for Starmer now.

US Election thread on 08:24 - Nov 6 with 355 views | AnotherJohn | Well, what some of us suspected might happen came to pass, although by a wider margin than I anticipated. As I thought, illegal migration and blaming an incumbent government for inflation counted for more than abortion rights and sympathy for Ukraine. It is that last thing that worries me most. There are also questions about US/UK relations in the light of the Labour Party canvassers sent to help the Democrats and Lammy's past utterances. As others have said, Biden's decision to drop out came too late, and in my view you can add that Harris was the wrong substitute.

US Election thread on 08:29 - Nov 6 with 351 views | AnotherJohn | Imagine J. D. Vance as president though. With that in mind any assassination would probably be down to a lone nutcase rather than a high-level conspiracy.
