Blackburn Rovers v Swansea City : Match day thread WEDS on 12:27 - Oct 17 with 2163 views | RichardO | Think we all have seen issues with different players or managers down the years. Williams has tried different things to see if we can get a bit of forward momentum but in his risk adverse methods it does stop our forward momentum maybe as he adjusts to managing at the higher level he will realise a forward ball into the box causes just as many problems whatever level you are playing at causung stress on the defenders, the more problems you give the defenders the more stressed they have which leads to errors and if our players are isolated or not given options off the ball there is very little room for inventiveness that give defenders different problems to deal with it doesn't necessarily mean committing more players forward as a some throw in quickly can cause problems. What concerns me is the over committing of players as we press forward leaving us vulnerable to counter attacks, not having the right players in the right place to counter those attack, Martin got it wrong on so many occasions we would score goals but then still commit players forward even though as fans we knew the opposition would respond so often scoring quick goals in reply. Williams is tinkering slowly at the moment but sometimes it takes an injury to players that force the manager into making more radical changes. We have no control in such matters and have to deal with the emotions stirred.

Blackburn Rovers v Swansea City : Match day thread on 13:58 - Oct 17 with 2066 views | Luther27 | Agree there. I’m hoping we’ve not accumulated too many injuries or knocks. I know E is out but how tired are the Welsh players in our squad? Anyway…long track for the fans so hoping they come away smiling.
Blackburn Rovers v Swansea City : Match day thread WEDS on 15:24 - Oct 17 with 1991 views | Legend83 | No I think it suggest he is putting in 1.08 cross a match that finds the target (a striker's head/foot) and he only manages to do that with 22% of his total crosses - rough mathematics means 4-5 crosses a match.
Blackburn Rovers v Swansea City : Match day thread WEDS on 15:30 - Oct 17 with 1981 views | RichardO | Think Williams is wary of the having some of the bad results he had early in his tenure against the so called better team. I'm sure we will take a couple of hits along the way but someone is due a beating by us. Williams hasn't quite got us that level in the Championship, I think we are all hoping he does sooner than later.

Blackburn Rovers v Swansea City : Match day thread WEDS on 16:51 - Oct 17 with 1895 views | ncswan | For this Saturday's match with Rovers, I'm hoping to see both Parker & Govea on the bench with Cullen starting on the wing with Vipo up top. Parker should see some game action, coming off the bench, to help secure a 1-3 away win for the Swans! If Williams starts Abdulai in the wrong position (out wide), then the best the Swans can hope for is a draw. Trying to play Azeem out wide is the wrong position for him.
Blackburn Rovers v Swansea City : Match day thread WEDS on 17:39 - Oct 17 with 1849 views | onehunglow | Just about as I see it I just hope we move the ball forward and give it a go.

Blackburn Rovers v Swansea City : Match day thread WEDS on 20:25 - Oct 17 with 1728 views | jack247 | If we start Vipotnik we’ll have to replace him. If Cullen is already on the field we’ll have to put Peart-Harris or Cooper or someone up front. I think Cullen and Vipotnik have to share the striker role Saturday, whoever starts. Id certainly like to see Parker and/or Govea on the bench if they are ready. It reduces the chances of Abdulai being made to play on the wing and increases his chances of coming on in the middle.
Blackburn Rovers v Swansea City : Match day thread WEDS on 20:57 - Oct 17 with 1695 views | Whiterockin | A three match week again, players will need to be managed and with our squad it's not easy.
Blackburn Rovers v Swansea City : Match day thread WEDS on 21:21 - Oct 17 with 1655 views | KeithHaynes | I’m in agreement, Cullen and Vipotnik should be on the pitch at the same time. And in all three matches. I’m not buying this rest the players issue.

Blackburn Rovers v Swansea City : Match day thread WEDS on 21:34 - Oct 17 with 1641 views | Luther27 | Vipotnik needs to start in my books and play the full 90. It’s October…he should have some sort of fitness by now.
Blackburn Rovers v Swansea City : Match day thread WEDS on 21:50 - Oct 17 with 1613 views | vetchonian | for me given Eoms injury I would try a 3-4-2-1 Vigouroux Naughton Cabango Darling Grimes Ronaldo Franco Tymon Cullen Cooper Vipotnik

Blackburn Rovers v Swansea City : Match day thread WEDS on 06:07 - Oct 18 with 1477 views | Whiterockin | Personally I really don't like three at the back and we look much more solid with four. Tinker now with the system/shape and it will cause us problems. We really should have enough in the squad to have a wide player to cover for an injury to Eon.
Blackburn Rovers v Swansea City : Match day thread WEDS on 08:42 - Oct 18 with 1424 views | RichardO | Liked what I've seen of Pearl-Harris especially when played in the more defensive role cool head playing out from the back after the intial melee at our defensive corners actually forcing his own players to move forward when playing out of in tight areas by playing the ball into space. While I'm not a fan of loan players and favour development of our own for the future I think Pearl-Harris would give us something better that we already have because we saw with the Wales games that careless passing can lead to excessive pressure being applied as a team trys to defend. Sometimes we see passes being made after a run has been spotted but often they haven't been seen. For me a sign of a good player is one who can see the space and pass before the run is made which doesn't give the defending player time to react to the delivered ball while encouraging the teammate forward. Seen a number of moves by us break down in congested areas of the pitch because we are constantly looking for the ball to feet and not into the spaces that good forward passes and forward movement creates. Blackburn Rovers v Swansea City : Match day thread WEDS on 09:12 - Oct 18 with 1405 views | onehunglow | Peary Harris has pedigree and getting him on loan should see him play a key role in matters . He’s a sizeable unit ,something we lack, and for the life of me can’t see why we haven’t really used him. Properly .

Blackburn Rovers v Swansea City : Match day thread WEDS on 09:19 - Oct 18 with 1398 views | Legend83 | Richard, are you sure you are talking about Peart-Harris? The same Peart-Harris who has come on purely as a striker substitute and jogged around aimlessly? Or have I missed a match where he played in midfield (genuine question)?
Blackburn Rovers v Swansea City : Match day thread WEDS on 09:26 - Oct 18 with 1374 views | Whiterockin | Sorry but what I have seen so far he is not up to much. Granted he has covered out of position and not had much game time but I expected more. [Post edited 18 Oct 2024 9:30]

Blackburn Rovers v Swansea City : Match day thread WEDS on 09:51 - Oct 18 with 1321 views | Whiterockin | We had no fit forward and he played up front, only one group of people to blame for that. Don't try and twist things to suit your dislike of people.

Blackburn Rovers v Swansea City : Match day thread WEDS on 10:31 - Oct 18 with 1229 views | vetchonian | Im also not a great fan of 3 at the back but if you watch closely we play with that given our two full backs are always advanced Key has almost been an extra midfielder tucked inside. Yes we shoukd have cover hopefully Bianchini will step up to the plate but my thiughts we alson how to get Cullen and Vip on the park together and hopefully increase our chance conversion. As i said we often end up with 3 at the back Cabango and Darling with Grimes in the middle my thoughts allow Grimes to be slightly more advanced.

Blackburn Rovers v Swansea City : Match day thread WEDS on 10:44 - Oct 18 with 1224 views | RichardO | Quite happy to read other people's opinions on players we all see different things, very hard to assess players good and bad points at times. In Pearl-Harris case I was just pointing out an instance where his play was better or at least on a par of others in the team, very little game time to establish any kind of rapport in a team structure that has been disrupted by substitutions, regardless of a player being asked to play in a position unfamiliar to them. Similar to Bianchini playing in a team which seemed cobbled together, two left footed centrehalves with no experience of playing together a team totally over run by Wycombe nothing he tried seemed effective, when he came on against Stoke on our right he looked diabolical, swapped over and he was able to put in two half tidy cross in. Funny how we look more effective on the left than we do on the right and yet as individuals I would rate Key and Ronald as good players but they just don't seem to compliment each other being asked to do something that doesn't work. Williams said of Cooper that he couldn't understand why he hadn't progressed since Williams last time here and yet even given his limitations his strengths have improved leading to inclusion in the Welsh team, as I digress I thought Josh Sheehan played his role better than Cooper had previously done. Very hard to assess individuals in a team game and the role they have been asked to play in it without giving them time. We have seen a number of players dumped because of bad choices made by managers.
Blackburn Rovers v Swansea City : Match day thread WEDS on 10:54 - Oct 18 with 1214 views | RichardO | I did say the instance was straight after a corner where he was part of the defensive setup and ended up playing the ball calmly out of defence as I would expect a good player to do without panic, all for a clearance into row Z when needed and any other option would be suicidal but do expect a level of control when playing out from the back while making the right choices. Can't see Pearl-Harris being around much longer given the game time he has had especially being shoehorned into because of the teams needs reminiscent of Darling playing right back.
