Depends what you class as “smart” though. Musk in some ways is borderline genius. What he lacks is real life experience and it shows.

A post I totally agree with. Some of these rich people and many of these corporations are nothing but a parasite or parasites on worldwide society.
If they want to create more jobs then they need to turn the clock back to small local shops because supermarkets are fuelling unemployment now using technology.
That could have the welcome effect of cutting pollution and improving peoples health, if we went back over to buying fresh food without all that plastic, people walking a few hundred yards a few times a week instead of driving miles or having it delivered.
It's an idealogical fantasy of course, it'll never happen.
In the same way as a solar panel on every roof will never happen despite the obvious advantages because it would take money away from the rich.

Musk is probably on the spectrum somewhere. There doesn't seem to be much of a filter between his brain and his mouth sometimes, a lack of awareness of the consequences of what he says.
As far as his "intelligence" goes, it's pretty laughable that people think you can achieve what he has achieved by being an idiot. What he does seem to be very good at is coming up with the concepts, and more importantly, hiring and working with the right people to make them a reality. He's a bit like Steve Jobs in that regard.
For example, what we saw yesterday with the booster being caught by the launching tower was by every report I've seen Musk's idea. It was impossible at the time he thought of it, but people working for him made it a reality.
Apparently there is a school of thought in lots of Silicone Valley companies that the best way to develop stuff is to just put it out there. You can learn a lot more from failures than endless checking and testing. It's one of the reasons why so many early SpaceX missions end in a big bang, but they're racing ahead of other companies in the same field. NASA have been left behind. [Post edited 14 Oct 2024 18:57]

I have paid my share of tax, don't worry about that. 45 years of PAYE, I now self assess every year as i'm retired. I write some off on maintenance , insurance etc, which is all above board.
