Maybe that's like any other workplace outside football? I haven't got a clue what my work colleagues contracts state, nor they mine. And it's certainly not any of our paying customers business either. Of course i'd like to know, but it's not my business.
workplace contracts outside of football don't work the same. If you work at Tesco and want to take a job at Sainsburys you just resign, Sainsburys won't be paying a fee to bring you and the Tesco business model is not reliant on employees being sold for big money so the things are very different.
Also if it's none of our business about their contracts why are they telling us

They're telling us they've committed to new contract just not the terms no? It seems fair enough in this world where contracts get bought out to the highest bidder. Don't really understand the negativity angle.
we've no idea what they have signed, if it's another 4 years, another 6 months etc I don't expect to know details of peoples contracts but to announce players have signed new contracts but leave out how long they are for is bizarre

Unrelated to Marti ( good news!) was reading this today and the implications are that football could be more in line with labour laws with players potentially able to exit a contract like anywhere else. An interesting one
Its a positive step. I'm not bothered if i don't know the length of the contract. Doesn't make a difference to me. As long as things are improving at the club, I'm not too concerned. I like this new approach. Sometimes we know too much of what we cant control anyway.

Because if things were shite behind the scenes then im not sure they would be giving out contract extensions. Its a positive sign. If we lose the next 3 games what difference does it make if we all know MC has another 3 years left on his contract? If we spiral downwards, the club will sack him, pay off the rest of his contract like we've been doing in the past, and get a new manager. Warburton had 3 years. We all knew it. He went after 3 years. A lot of fans wasn't happy we didn't extend his contract. Could we do anything about it ? No. Maybe its just me, i'm not fussed. If we win the next 3 games, does the contract look clever?

The positive step is that whatever the term it is an increase on their current contract and hence an increase in the time where we can get compensation should they get poached.

All this bickering about contract lengths is a direct result of the new omertà from the club: it’s unnecessary and disrespectful to the fans IMO, and totally counter productive. Holding onto information and drip feeding just breeds distrust. Be honest, be inclusive, face the world with the truth

I was joking about the 3 games, I love the manager so glad he is staying but just find the cloak and dagger approach to how long hes staying for ridiculous.
I just don't see the point in why they are telling us about new deals but not how long for, it's half an announcement

I do understand where you're coming from, it's just all part and parcel of the brave new Nourry world that we now find ourselves in.
However, you've weakened your argument by saying that if we lose the next 3 games an extension might not look quite so clever, whereas the extension, irrespective of time, indicates a trust and backing of Cifuentes that I personally think we should all be pleased with.
I got the 3 game thing was tongue in cheek mate. So was my response. All good in the hood. I get what you're saying, I just don't think it's something that concerns me anymore. Maybe it will again at some point in the future, but for now, I'm just going with the flow.

I had an over-weight friend who blamed their problem on their parents for buying them chocolate everytime they fell over, were upset, etc. This feels similar.
