🏴 Wales v Türkiye 🇹🇷 : Nations League 1/6 on 07:56 - Sep 7 with 1276 views | onehunglow | So someone who questions welsh is hounded on here . Well.sssssssss. The majority in Wales don’t speak Welsh, many actually find it a pain. Many find it divisive . Many find it totally irrelevant Maybe the three pundits didn’t inspire Maybe Malcom’s Allen’s thick Coffi grated on people . And yet,we see languages such as Brazilian and Argentinian on here . Yes,folks, we are this insular Don’t ever question welsh Pen. It’s always leads to unpleasantness as you ll see when lifelong sees what I’ve just posted .

🏴 Wales v Türkiye 🇹🇷 : Nations League 1/6 on 08:05 - Sep 7 with 1251 views | pencoedjack | Judging by the traffic on this match day thread I’d say it’s probably best to try & keep English speakers on board I’ve probably watched more live Wales internationals than most on here. & I couldn’t give a toss what the nats say or think 👍
🏴 Wales v Türkiye 🇹🇷 : Nations League 1/6 on 08:12 - Sep 7 with 1246 views | onehunglow | This is why my mum hated Welsh . My father came from cardi full on welsh speakers It caused nowt but unpleasantness. I see this on this site The vast majority are being intimidated by a minority . Fact Decent folk speaking a mother tongue handed down to them ,yet ,because of the land they are born on,it’s not enough to be considered “ proper welsh” and they should learn it. Well………..no.Why don’t welsh speakers accost the language,as a country , will always be a minority language . If you’re born in Bangor,Caernarfon,Cardigan, handed are you will be brought up speaking it , if in Ebbw Vale, you wont . Three nonentities presenting a televised football game is Eason to turn sound off though Get your tin hat as things will get frosty soon

🏴 Wales v Türkiye 🇹🇷 : Nations League 1/6 on 09:28 - Sep 7 with 1159 views | majorraglan | Because S4C purchases the right to broadcast the match in Welsh, the English rights are usually sold to a much bigger outfit who pay a lot more. S4C do sometimes have a n English language option on the red button, but it all depends on the terms of the contract and if anyone has picked up the English language options. S4C have worked a little route to get around the monopoly the likes of Sky have on broadcasting events. [Post edited 7 Sep 9:28]

🏴 Wales v Türkiye 🇹🇷 : Nations League 1/6 on 09:28 - Sep 7 with 1154 views | herbie | Nobody is being hounded. I am not a native Welsh speaker myself. I explained what S4C was set up for and find it arrogant to suggest their commentary should be in English which would breach its basic principle of being a Welsh language channel and to encourage more people to learn some Welsh. You don’t have to be a Welsh speaker to be Welsh of course not. Now that would be a stupid argument to make but it’s no hardship to watch a Wales game with Welsh commentary particularly when the alternative is it might not be broadcast at all. 🏴 Wales v Türkiye 🇹🇷 : Nations League 1/6 on 10:07 - Sep 7 with 1087 views | DaPs166 | What’s people’s problem with Welsh commentary? Just because you feel lesser for not speaking Welsh, doesn’t mean you need to project yourselves onto others. Either shut up or learn Welsh. 🏴
🏴 Wales v Türkiye 🇹🇷 : Nations League 1/6 on 10:21 - Sep 7 with 1064 views | max936 | Excellent post, unfortunately I can't speak Welsh, but I support the Welsh peoples right to speak it and long may it continue and even grow. Yes its a pain watching sport without English commentary, but you can still watch it and enjoy it. Dwi'n caru Cymru

🏴 Wales v Türkiye 🇹🇷 : Nations League 1/6 on 10:26 - Sep 7 with 1049 views | Whiterockin | The option of English commentary on the red button would aid viewing figures and help with advertising revenue. There were probably many like me who watched a stream instead.
🏴 Wales v Türkiye 🇹🇷 : Nations League 1/6 on 11:03 - Sep 7 with 985 views | pencoedjack | Indeed Personally I don’t give a toss about the Welsh language & it irks me I see my money wasted on receiving letters in both Welsh & English ,the money & the environment would be far better off if you were given the option. I bet S4C’s don’t warrant the money gifted by the licence pay to keep a few yokels happy. Anyway glad the Welsh manager gave his post match analysis in English so the vast majority got his views on the game.
🏴 Wales v Türkiye 🇹🇷 : Nations League 1/6 on 11:18 - Sep 7 with 949 views | Whiterockin | I don't have a problem with the Welsh language apart from the massive cost to duplicate everything in Wales. It does smack of double standards though when the programs are entirely in Welsh on S4C but many of the adds are in English. They really couldn't survive without the English language.
🏴 Wales v Türkiye 🇹🇷 : Nations League 1/6 on 11:20 - Sep 7 with 932 views | lifelong | What a dreadful attitude towards Wales and the Welsh language.
🏴 Wales v Türkiye 🇹🇷 : Nations League 1/6 on 11:21 - Sep 7 with 927 views | pencoedjack | A bit like the Welsh national team not surviving without English born players, a country that Welsh nationalists hate.
🏴 Wales v Türkiye 🇹🇷 : Nations League 1/6 on 11:31 - Sep 7 with 899 views | pencoedjack | Glad it annoys you. As I said earlier I have probably watched Wales play live more times than most on here spending 1000’s in doing so. Think it’s fair that the game is available in a language that the majority of the country understands.
🏴 Wales v Türkiye 🇹🇷 : Nations League 1/6 on 11:33 - Sep 7 with 877 views | lifelong | Doesn’t really annoy me, I just feel sorry for you.
🏴 Wales v Türkiye 🇹🇷 : Nations League 1/6 on 11:38 - Sep 7 with 843 views | Whiterockin | And there lies one of the biggest problems in Wales and resulting in a resentment of the Welsh language. Welsh speakers think they are superior, they are not, if you are Welsh you are Welsh irrespective of the language you speak.
🏴 Wales v Türkiye 🇹🇷 : Nations League 1/6 on 11:39 - Sep 7 with 838 views | pencoedjack | No need to feel sorry for me butt just speaking on behalf of the masses 👍
🏴 Wales v Türkiye 🇹🇷 : Nations League 1/6 on 11:48 - Sep 7 with 817 views | lifelong | ‘ Welsh speakers think they are superior’ How do you work that one out? Especially when you have a Welsh language hater on here calling Welsh language speakers Yokels.
🏴 Wales v Türkiye 🇹🇷 : Nations League 1/6 on 11:48 - Sep 7 with 817 views | KeithHaynes | They have commentary in English on their YouTube service for Monday (I think)

🏴 Wales v Türkiye 🇹🇷 : Nations League 1/6 on 12:30 - Sep 7 with 762 views | pencoedjack | You seem to have a very high opinion of yourself & anyone who disagrees with you on things such as the Welsh language or the 20 mph speed limit always seem to be anti Welsh. The vast majority of people want what is best for Wales & are often baffled why we waste money on vanity projects when there is a need to spend money wisely.

🏴 Wales v Türkiye 🇹🇷 : Nations League 1/6 on 14:03 - Sep 7 with 660 views | AnotherJohn | Like other Anglophones, I accept that there is a valid case to promote the Welsh language. This does have certain downsides though. In the organisation where I worked full time for many years and still do a bit, every organisation-wide communication must be sent in both languages. This means there is now a translation unit that requires a couple of days notice if a translation is needed and delays messages being circulated. When emails are sent, the Welsh must precede the English language part. I often wonder how much time it takes across the organisation to scroll through the first part of emails, since only a minority of employees actually speak and read Welsh fluently.
🏴 Wales v Türkiye 🇹🇷 : Nations League 1/6 on 15:33 - Sep 7 with 610 views | lifelong | So it’s me who has a high opinion of myself when it is you that call Welsh speakers yokels? As far as the 20mph limit is concerned where have I said that those that oppose it are anti Welsh?
🏴 Wales v Türkiye 🇹🇷 : Nations League 1/6 on 21:23 - Sep 7 with 483 views | JBT95 | Because S4C hold the Welsh language rights to the games, not English. The English ones are held by viaplay, which is now part of Premier Sports in the UK. For some reason viaplay/Premier Sports are not showing any nations league games this window, that's why Scotland and NI are being shown on itv. https://www.itv.com/football/articles/itv-secure-deal-to-air-scotland-and-northe [Post edited 7 Sep 21:24]

🏴 Wales v Türkiye 🇹🇷 : Nations League 1/6 on 21:26 - Sep 7 with 480 views | JBT95 | I don't speak Cymraeg but I don't see why you need a football match with English commentary. Just watch the damn thing! Or better still buy a ticket and go to the game. I watched Saudi v Argentina in Qatar with blaring Arabic commentary! Football is a language we all understand!
