Said it before and i will say it again, they have done some amazing business. I would take Phillips, Broja, Hutchinson. and Szmod.

We did well Getting Downes and Harwood signed up, but since then the its been a complete scatter gun approach. 18 signings and we are weaker than last season.

I really don’t see him being the difference. His ‘good’ season with us produced 6 goals, with him mostly drawing blanks for Fulham and Chelsea (one must not forget his injury). I can’t see him getting double figures.

He’s not a natural goal scorer, instead opting to drift wide and is good technically. Kieffer Moore did a good job for Ipswich last season - a premier league alternative to him would be more suitable.

He's another Berty Big Balls. I've read a couple of articles that he "did not want to join a lower half team" but that the inclusion of the mandatory purchase by Ipswich if the stay up only works if his personal terms are met.

I don't blame him, if I played for Chelsea U23 and got loaned out a few times and had a chance to make 10s of millions I'd do the same. But, like so many, once life altering money is on the table, the idea of pushing yourself to the limit to be the best you can probably becomes a challenge in itself.

How do you work that out? Which of our scatter gun signings is going to make the difference? Most didn’t make the match day squad last Saturday

Butty research the signing from Chelsea and the new chap Fernandes from Lisbon you will be surprised what other fans say. You only seem to comment on players you’ve heard of . Phillips was Shyte last season, Broja talented but sulks. The only one I’d take is Szmodics .

Why slag our signings off before you’ve seen them play ? how do you know our signings are t any good and we’re weaker this season ? After doing research and reading loads of material I’m happy with our signings but we do need a keeper and a hitman striker but the striker would have to be a loan or a promising upstart because really good strikers are way out of our league.

Yes, both Fernandes and Ugochukwu seem better signings then Kalvin Phillips, and Brereton-Diaz could very well outscore Broja. The concern is that we've signed a lot of midfielders, when we already had Dibling and Amo-Ameyaw ready to break into the first team, and our priorities should have been a goalkeeper and centre forward.

We'll be playing Ipswich at St Mary's soon, so that will give us a good idea who has done better in this transfer window.

PS There are still good goalscoring strikers within our price range, like Ayoub El Kaabi, Haji Wright and Vedat Muriqi. Of course, as you say, players who've already proven themselves by scoring a lot of goals in the Premier League are too expensive so we have to take a bit of a risk.

We need to unearth another Marian Pahars Dirk.

I also think Dibling and Amo-Ayew will be used quite a bit this season from the bench as they’ve both performed well pre season although I would start them both in some games to see how they get on .

broja is just an up market version of mara, lots of ability but lacks the get up and go you need to go with youre ability, basically wasters who think there better than they are.

Im not slagging off our signings before i see them play. But the fact is we have had a scatter gun approach and signed 18 players this summer and not addressed the issues we had at the start of the summer.
Lets be honest, none of us had heard of Fernandes or the chelsea lad a week ago. Just because they are hyped dosent mean squat. God knows we have had a lot of those types of players recently. he current owners have had 4 terrible transfer windows when it comes to permanent signings.
If Phillips is still motivated i would prefer him to the unproven Chelsea nipper. Ipswich have signed 3 forwards and i would take all of them over Archer.

I think

As always some are writing off the signings before they have kicked a ball.
We have some great potential signings which need support not slagging off before they have kicked a ball.

A keeper is on its way and bearing in mind 7 days before the agents start panicking and dropping demands for players we have time to fix our issues.

How many of our fans would have said signing Borja if they stay up for £30m and signing Philips was good business. Our guys doing the transfers in the club would have got linched on here.

They are already getting linched on buy real young talent that we now have to let loose and see how good they are,

Totally disagree -I think people would have been excited getting Philips and Broja in as they are known quantities.
Face it the clubs recent record of permanent signings has been shocking :-

2022/23 We signed Baz, Lis, Bella-kotcha, Lavia, Airbo, Mara, Calet-car, Edozie, Larios, orsic, Alcaraz, Bree, tall paul and Sulemana. (14 players)

2023/24 Manning, Stewart, Lumley, Charles, (Awe, Abu, Mcnmara, Whitmarsh - Youngsters) (8 players)

Out of 22 players they have had one success (Lavia). So no i cant get excited when we sign another next big thing from abroad tha no one has ever heard of.

Agree we've not exactly set the world on fire with our transfer activity since SR took over but it's not been as shocking as you state either imo.

Baz.. Work in progress.. Potential profit or money back in a few years.

Lis.. Profit

ABK.. Worrying regarding his medical.. Agreed.. But could still turn a profit.

Lavia. Yep

Aribo.. Decent player for us now. Cost 6m

Mara. Got our money back.

Caleta Car.. Virtually got our money back. Loss of about 1m

Edozie. Jury out.. Beats his man but lacks end product.. Squad player.. Certainly not a shocking signing.

Larios. Crock. Too small agreed.

Orsic.. Terrible. Agreed.

Alcaraz. Good but raw. Not right for Possession football. Should make a decent profit on 10m we paid.

Bree. Exactly what you'd expect for 700 grand.. Cheap n cheerful. Done OK.

Tall Paul.. Agreed. Disaster. Totally wrong for us. Money wasted.

Sulemana.. Headless chicken.. But his pace will at least mean we recoup a chunk of his fee.. But yes a shocking signing for 22m.

Manning and Lumley were freebies.. No lose situation.

Stewart.. Disastrous waste of 8m.

Charles. So far disappointing , certainly not worth the 11m we spent but young and will get better.

The others are just kids and likely on low wages.. Not a major issue.

For me only Larios, Sulemana, Stewart, Orsic and Tall Paul have been Shocking signings..

The real cost of most of those players was that, despite the massive outlay, they still got us relegated from the Prem. Even now we are still struggling with the implications of that disastrous season. These signings are still restricting what we can do today and damaging our chances of staying in the PL this year. I think it's fair to describe what SR did in that year as "shocking".

I agree not everyone is a disaster. Let’s be honest who ever thought we could get our money back on Mara. But the fact is, he was still a poor signing and not what we needed at that moment.

Baz we will never get our money back. He’s just a poor keeper and again not what we needed at that moment. We would not of got through the playoffs with Baz in goal.

Lumley was a poor signing. When crunch time came we didn’t use him. So what was the point.

Manning just about did a job but we are now stuck with him for another 3 years. Like wise Abk, injury prone and has an attitude. On paper he should have been a good signing.

Caleta-car disappointing again on paper looked a sensible signing.

Edozie is in his 3rdseason and not progressed. He will drop down the leagues imo.

Airbo never prem class, I doubt we can shift him on and expect him to be on the sidelines.

"McKenna's 10th signing of the summer"

Ipswich are repeating what Forest did and signing an almost entirely new team for the Premier League. It's ruthless on the players who took them up, but It worked for Forest.
