Eze release clause on 12:21 - Aug 17 with 7238 views | dmm | I spotted Kenny Jacket at last week's Dev squad game He's director of Football at Gillingham these days so obviously scouting at the game.
Eze release clause on 12:39 - Aug 17 with 7108 views | kensalriser | If 60m was cheap he would have been snapped up by now. The fact he hasn't tells us no one values him that highly.

Eze release clause on 13:38 - Aug 17 with 6946 views | Landshark | QPR fans do.
Eze release clause on 14:25 - Aug 17 with 6832 views | hantssi | That’s a very good idea, let’s sign players on the basis of a fans message board! We can’t even agree amongst ourselves which players are good/no good!
Eze release clause on 14:57 - Aug 17 with 6715 views | rbee | Not the basis obviously but why not include that as a small part of the process along with the players social media. I recall Charlton fans offering to drive Macauley Bonne to Loftus Road. There was 2 million well spent.
Eze release clause on 13:26 - Aug 19 with 6377 views | 89_50 | I'd be surprised if Eze leaves now, especially this late in the window. I wouldn't say the lack of interest in him is because the price is too high, but perhaps as much to do with the structure of offer. I think I'm correct in saying that many of these release clauses have to be paid in one go, which is proving more and more difficult in the age of PSR. By letting it lapse, interested clubs can offer more structured deals that may cost them more in the long run, but can help them stay within the regs.

Eze release clause on 14:18 - Aug 19 with 5947 views | KensalT | A release clause is just a sale price at which a club is willing to sell a player. If a potential buyer makes an offer matching the release clause it means that buying club then has permission to talk to the player to offer terms. But it doesn't automatically mean the player has to be sold: 1. The player might be happy where he is and refuse to leave. 2. The selling club might decide they would rather keep the player than have the transfer fee. In which case they could offer the player a new contract on better terms. The release clause gives the player bargaining power. But it doesn't automatically mean he gets sold.
Eze release clause on 14:41 - Aug 19 with 5736 views | MedwayR | 2. The selling club might decide they would rather keep the player than have the transfer fee. In which case they could offer the player a new contract on better terms. I don't agree with that, it would make the release clause pointless. If a club meets the release clause and the player wants to go, there's nothing the selling club can do. In Spain, release clauses have to be paid in full. Clubs either negotiate to spread payments but pay a higher fee, or they borrow money from a lender (usually a bank) to pay the release fee then spread the repayments. I presume they work in the same way here.

Eze release clause on 15:56 - Aug 19 with 5473 views | rbee | My understanding is that a release clause is set between the club, the player and their agent at the time of signing. In the case of Palace and Eze is appears that the release clause was set at 60 million? If a club like Barcelona triggers the clause with a 60 million offer then Palace cannot stand in the players way. Presumably the player can turn down the move. Now the release clause has expired Palace can ask any fee that they like.
Eze release clause on 16:00 - Aug 19 with 5448 views | numptydumpty | What a post !!! Crikey, would be very nervous if you were my manager, loyalitat !!! Very critical of players, just adapting to a new environment and new country and new style of play. Have you ever coached any level of football. In fact, I think I have worked out who you are, as he said recently all his players from his new team were a disgrace and totally without commitment. His name - Wayne Rooney. 🙃 Some players will take longer to bed in, just the nature of being human, but your approach would alienate certain players from the get go. Whether they improve and consolidate, obviously that is the aim with all signings, but your approach is like telling them they are crap from the get go and if there is any possible improvements, being alienated so early would mean zero hope of getting any of these players in the short or medium term performing... Harsh is the word I would use in response to your thread, and ill conceived. Ie you have given up on them immediately.... I agree though Eze won't be sold this window. Hence why we have to develop all our new players and not just cast them aside because for the first couple of games they have made mistakes or are off the pace. [Post edited 19 Aug 16:08]

Eze release clause on 18:13 - Aug 19 with 4886 views | richpr | Skipp to Leicester for 25m - the world has gone mad - one of the least talented players ever to play in the premiership. About the same level as Karl Henry. If he is worth 25m then Eze is worth at least 75m. Hopefully that will free up a bit of cash so Spurs can buy Eze.
Eze release clause on 12:59 - Aug 20 with 4123 views | Juzzie | it's a bit like hyper inflation. All becomes meaningless when the same figures are just rotating around the clubs.
Eze release clause on 13:18 - Aug 20 with 3996 views | johnhoop | Becoming more unlikely now they’ve just blown 25 or 30 million on Odobert from Burnley.
Eze release clause on 19:38 - Aug 20 with 3385 views | danehoop | If we are making these purchases it means that we have some degree of certainty of funds coming in. That means either that something is understood to be happening with Eze (still possible within the window, but seems unlikely) or we have some kind of agreement in principle on one or two of our players, which realistically means Chair, Clarke Salter or maybe Field? Might be we anticipate something from Paal, but not sure that adds up to what is needed. Other punt is that Cannon is now gone because of his unfortunate contract situation and the insurance money has paid out. Otherwise not sure how we are funding this unless we anticipate the end of whatever FFP in the Championship is currently called.
| Never knowingly understood |

Eze release clause on 20:53 - Aug 20 with 2957 views | stevec | The fact we’ve got 21/22 out of the equation has probably given us enough space to manoeuvre this season without immediately having to make player sales. If Eze moves on anytime in the next two seasons, problem solved. We also have a player or two who could alleviate issues for a season whenever they leave, likewise if one of the new signings steps up. Worth having a go as this league might be a little more open than usual.
Eze release clause on 21:32 - Aug 20 with 2790 views | Gus_iom | Skipp, alongside Winks. Proper boring, sludgey midfield pairing, that. Absolutely characterless.
Eze release clause on 21:40 - Aug 20 with 2702 views | BrianMcCarthy | Completely agree, Steve. But Eze, and our players, could all leave on free transfers. I really hope we're not planning on future income that we can't control, is all.

Eze release clause on 22:22 - Aug 20 with 2480 views | wombat | Rumour is Eze fancies a move to spurs , not sure likely now but that’s his preferred destination , also think my e Liverpool might fancy him for some reason

Eze release clause on 23:00 - Aug 20 with 2345 views | daveB | I remember saying exactly that in 2021
Eze release clause on 09:32 - Aug 21 with 1641 views | GaryBannister86 | Me too - I am totally torn as yet again we appear to be on a signing frenzy which is undeniably exciting, but at what future cost? Then again, what's the point of being a football club? To balance the books, or have a go? I guess the best clubs do both, not one or the other.
Eze release clause on 09:45 - Aug 21 with 1483 views | jeffranger | This EZE thing is getting on my nerves, every time there’s a rumour of maybe a bid up it comes, can’t think for one minute we are relying on the money we get for him if he leaves, if he goes fine if not tuff & we move on & forget about him
