This issue does need sorting.
I stand by my original opinion that she shouldn’t have been able to compete for safety reasons.
However, if the definition of a woman is an adult female with a cervix who can have children, she seems to tick all those boxes.

Since 2018 -2023 she's boxed in many tournaments, losing and winning some - No complaints.
She boxed at the Tokyo Olympics, she was defeated by Ireland's Kellie Harrington in the quarterfinals. - No complaints.
Her trouble started at the 2023 IBA Women's World Boxing Championships. She got to the final, but was disqualified after allegations from the Russian-led International Boxing Association's (IBA) that Khelif had failed unspecified eligibility tests.
Days earlier Khelif defeated Azalia Amineva, a previously unbeaten Russian prospect. The disqualification restored the Russian boxer's undefeated record.
First off they said her testosterone levels were too high - then in 2023, IBA president Umar Kremlev said that the disqualifications were because DNA tests "proved she had XY chromosomes"
On 31 July 2024, regarding their 2023 decision, the IBA alleged that Khelif and others "did not undergo a testosterone examination but were subject to a separate and recognized test, whereby the specifics remain confidential", and further alleged that they "were found to have competitive advantages over other female competitors"
These tests are so confidential, that nobody outside this Russian IBA has never seen them!!
The Russian IBA's Olympic status was revoked in June 2023, due to governance issues and judging and refereeing corruption.

Not according to the World boxing body who banned him from competing as he had XY chromosome which is the definition of a man.
He may Identify as a woman but he is still a man.
I know the Old USSR regularly put men I some of the women's field events before genetic tests were available. They all disappeared from competitive athletics once the tests were available. | |

Reminds me of that sprinter a few years ago, she had all the bits and bobs, she had a vagina but also had internal functioning testicles.
I suspect there is a similar situation with this boxer. Of course her bits and bobs are her own business but there is a clear ethical discussion to have around cases of intersex individuals who are born and grow up as women but are often diagnosed late and benefit from the inate physical advantages of going through puberty with male bits. | |

Rowing recovered from a poor Tokyo to deliver this time around. I'd be fairly confident in believing that the structures are in place to keep the conveyor belt of talent coming, which might not have been the case in years gone by.
A few people will be disappointed in themselves though, across the range of sports. Maybe a bit of pruning is required of those not quite up to it so the youth coming through have got a full Olympic cycle to gain experience. | |
