The Summer Transfer Rumours Thread on 15:21 - Jun 16 with 5450 views | RhonddaSwans | We all know Matts strong point is his passing. But being the pivot of the side doesn't really work. Where do you see matt playing in a team?

The Summer Transfer Rumours Thread on 17:24 - Jun 16 with 5299 views | AnotherJohn | On goalkeepers, my feeling is that Nicholls is a bit old at 31 if we are looking for somebody who could develop to be a EPL keeper. I'd be looking around to try to find a keeper with potential who is pushing to get into a rival Championship team, but perhaps not nailing down number one spot 100%. One I like who was in and out of the Sheffield Wednesday side last season (18 appearances), but had a great season at Exeter in 2021-22 and is still under 30, is Cameron Dawson. Obviously Margetson is a better judge than I am, but Dawson might be worth a look to go on a list of possibles. [Post edited 16 Jun 17:28]

The Summer Transfer Rumours Thread on 17:39 - Jun 16 with 5277 views | RhonddaSwans | Developing any keeper means dropping points. The only way I can see that working if it is a 24/26 year old keeper. We need someone that can do a job now. As in 3 years when he is ready to be top class knowing he will be sold then we are back to square one is depressing. We have the best in the business here with marg. He should be picking our keeper.

The Summer Transfer Rumours Thread on 19:36 - Jun 16 with 5182 views | RhonddaSwans | Its basics really isn't it. We need an experienced general in goals. Not a young gun afraid to command the area. Wouldn't mind ruddy here for one season.

The Summer Transfer Rumours Thread on 19:38 - Jun 16 with 5173 views | onehunglow | It is. A decent ,basic keeper. No frills wouod do me. Not arsed about his playing out from the back pretty style And a striker, worthy of the name Someone pointed out a Yates stats at previous club to me,which shows the folly of being led by the nose by stats

The Summer Transfer Rumours Thread on 19:55 - Jun 16 with 5161 views | RhonddaSwans | He is still loved by the Blackpool fans. But yes we need a man not a boy in goals. Ruddy is a fantastic keeper for this level. Would love to see freddy woodman back in his real clubs colours aswell.

The Summer Transfer Rumours Thread on 20:23 - Jun 16 with 5128 views | AnotherJohn | You misunderstood my post. When I said develop to be capable of playing in the EPL, I meant that Margetson might be able to take somebody who is already good to the very top level. I wasn't talking about 21 year olds. I am not saying Dawson is definitely the answer, but he is three years younger than Nicholls and nearly 10 years past being capped at England under-18 and under-19 levels. I just gave him as an example of a keeper I like, who has played for 5 football league clubs already, and may be available for a reasonable fee. The Exeter fans loved him. [Post edited 16 Jun 20:27]

The Summer Transfer Rumours Thread on 08:15 - Jun 17 with 4765 views | RichardO | No sure about how good his passing is given the number of passes he actually makes, you would expect any player to produce at least a number of quality passes, we have seen Cabango player a number of excellent passes when the option become available with good movents in front of him but some awful ones when he trys to force ball though crowded area as the movement in the middle and up top becomes static and opposition's get wise to the tactics being used. As for what position to play him it would be further up the park, Shearer yesterday talked about not wanting Harry Kane dropping too deep to "help out the midfield" as it left no out option up front and crowded his own team mates in the middle not allowing them space to play out through the middle, both meaning the England team were unable to relieve the pressure on them, while I don't want to be listening to Shearer about goalkeepering or what individual defenders and midfielders do but as a quality forward he is right about the forward pkay, similar can be said about Grimes I do not want to see his default position as struck between two central defenders the amount of time he does it restricts their play and limits options in front of them and invites pressure . As for best player in the middle you could also say Pato at times was and Allen similarly or even Patino until his confidence dipped. Yes Grimes is our most consistent midfielder but he needs help alongside him to one drag him further up the park, two players who are there throughtout the season and can do the chasing back and forward at a rate he cannot do, time to find those players. Thought we had found one in Downes but we let him go, would have been interesting to see Grimes, Downes and Fulton together although think Fulton game time needs to be limited now and once two new midfielders are found even more so. Time for a change in the middle of the park.
