Not sure if anyone has seen this, but the PL are replacing the current PSR rules in the PL with new rules based on UEFAs new squad cost ratio.
This new rule would basically mean teams not competing in Europe are limited to spending 85% of their income on player wages, transfers along with agents fees, those in Europe will be limited to 70 percent.

Yeah, a breakaway super-league will take a lot of the TV money with it and with less money for the remaining Premier League teams, this would close the gap between the divisions and give everyone a better shot at winning the league.

Look, I personally wouldn't care if the top six joined a European super league - the Prem would be more interesting without them - but my point is that the Premier League and its overseas counterparts aren't going to let their crown jewels join a rival league, taking all those juicy revenue streams with them, without a real fight.
I would be happy for it to happen, the existing football authorities will fight it, though. That's my position. | |

I never lose sight of the fact my club gets over 120 mill a season from the TV revenue that the Premier league are able to pay due to the attraction of the top teams like City Liverpool ect.Doubt if Brentford v Bournmouth attracts much interest around the world but then again without us peasants they wouldn’t have a league to play in and win.
I would love the so called elite clubs and players piss off and play with the European
League but sadly won’t happen and the new rules the PL will be introducing next season will make the rich clubs even more secure in the league and the rest of the clubs in the Efl and PL will just have to wait their turn to have a stint in this most boring league in the world. | | | |

Championship clubs, just like PL, are over dependent on TV revenues. The revenue is largely driven by the bog name clubs and tricles down the Leagues.
If the top 6 broke away every club in the league would need to adjust its finances. A 90% salary cap, dropping to 70% might mean EFL clubs would be more sustainable. | |

Villa got very lucky after spending a fortune on lots of crap after going up, just about survived after goal line technology failed in a game and now in the champions league places
Several of those signings in both prem spells could have gone the other way. Likes of Mbia, Wright-Phillips, Caulker, Isla, Vargas, Fer etc all looked very good signings on paper and at the time but never really worked out
Win at Spurs under Hughes when on top we take a different path, hold on against Swansea under Redknapp and open up a gap to the bottom, loads of factors

The premier league is so popular because its the best players and teams in the world and England competing. Who would care about the prem if Brighton and Bournemouth were fighting for the title? I personally couldn't give a shit if we came 10th in a washed up, post big 6, premier league. Why do you think you want us to get promoted, for away days at luton? It was revealing who the ten clubs voting against the EFL funding deal were - including Liverpool (while complaining about the Tories being selfish bastards), Arsenal (pulling the ladder up after their dodgy promotion in 1919), Chelsea (obviously) and the likes of Palace and Bournemouth, which is just beyond parody. Ridiculous that PL don't pay more to the EFL.
If they don't, it will end up with a super league with mid-table PL teams left out of it.
Scrap the parachute payments - always thought this was a ludicrous idea. It has led to what we have now - the 3 teams that get promoted, get relegated the next year. Eventually, it will be the same 6 teams every year.
EFL should ban loans from PL clubs - EFL clubs just giving PL youth players a platform to get better while at the same time paying some/all of their wages. Eventually the youth or decent squad players will have to leave if the PL continue to just play.
Force PL teams to pay a levy % on any players signed from EFL which goes to all EFL clubs (maybe wighted in favour of lower EFL teams).
EFL introduce wage cap and make ticket prices the same at all grounds (relative to league).
EFL arrange their own TV deal + have deal with Terrestial TV
I would love to watch the EFL on MotD while PL are all playing to their corporate and mega-rich audience in Saudi.

I dont see Parachute Payments being scrapped, but maybe instead of it being over 3 years, they could do it so they only get it for a year.
Whilst its not perfect, it would be a big improvement.

A sig if can't part of the issue is the distribution of the money when it comes es in... the palywrs. Player wages are absolutely obscene. Look I get that a football career is short but £100k a week? And that's the bang average players in the premiership
And why? The big clubs drive up the wages becuase other big clubs are scared that other teams may nick their players? But it filters down into the lower leagues.
There should be a maximum wage IMO. Or wages should be 50% of the average income of the whole league or a salary cap.like in The NFL.. plenty of examples better than the unfettered bollocks we have now. | |
