By chance I was staying at same hotel on 16th of February as QPR team.Had picture taken with a good number of the players and spoke to 3 of 4 of them. But best of all was a chat with Marti. He was pleased to meet a long time QPR fan.It was an amazing experience.I’am 85 and my first away game was seventy years ago.

Paul Smyth was in Popworld in Bristol last night. He wasn’t at 3 when I left though.
Didn’t get a chance to say hello.
On the breakfast in Spoons at the moment soaking up a mild hangover.

Dear Oakfarm,

Tremendous effort; glad they put a shift in for you.

However, I think we all want to know: what was Sandro like back in the 1950s when he would have been in his early 30s if my amateur efforts at carbon dating are correct.

Thanks, the rest of us.

ps Can you go next Saturday too?

This post has brightened up my afternoon. In all my years of support ( not quite as many as yours ), I've only met a handful of Rs players - the conversation usually of the “ that was some goal you scored against so-and-so ” type.
I've often wondered what I'd say to some of todays players. Let's hope yesterday wasn't a one-off.

I met one or two, would have walked right past 'em but they copped my red hair and there was no hiding.

Well done Oakfarm old chap, you must have had a very happy weekend. I wish I could have been with you because we would have had a lot of shared memories as I beat your eighty five years by one. My late dear dad took me to me to a lot of away games late forties and fifties on his BSA motorbike and sidecar. I hope you will enjoy watching the R's a lot more times.

I hope this post shows that our club is not actually that toxic club that several here suggest that it is. I watched the Youtube video posted on this forum of a young boy chatting to the players - And they are far from aloof and dont care like has been suggested

So pleased for you Oakfarm

I too am 86 and first saw Rangers in 1947 (possibly '46).Bert Addinall was one of my boyhood heroes and I met him once when he was selling tickets on a Scottish island ferry in the eighties.

Well done Oakfarm, keep going mate.

Thanks for the memories Addinall. He was my dad’s favourite player!

Approx 12 years ago i bumped into Tommy Smith in Berko High St - an absolute Gent. Had a good 5 min chat, mostly about the Everton goal. But I was certainly star struck!

I am old but not old enough to remember Bert. My late uncle Dave however (born and brought up in Grenfell Road) knew him at school.

You are spot on, all the players are friendly and approachable and after the Norwich game I was waiting for Dave to finish gathering the remaining AKTUR'S to take back with us and Sinclair Armstrong, along with his girlfriend, stopped to chat with us for around 20 minutes. I don't think he really got Dave's humour but he was more than happy to talk and you could tell he really is appreciative of the support from the fans.
Eze was another one who was always happy to stop and chat to us. I also spent about an hour with Geoff Cameron before a game when he was recovering from injury and he was surprisingly open about such subjects as how much he was earning and how much Stoke were paying towards it.
It was a bit different the last time we were in Prem as most of the players had no interest in stopping before or after the games.

The grass is always greener.

This thread is amazing; I am in awe. I first saw Rrrs in a testimonial at Brentford in 1969 and first went to hq in 1970. That's 55 years. Some of you chaps can beat that by almost a quarter of a century 😱😁🏆

I have a vague memory of heading back to the Bush with a large group of fans and someone nicking one of those newspaper stands and running through an underpass with it.
My 1st game was 1966.

The grass is always greener.

Dave's humour does indeed take a bit of getting used to.

Chris Day was another who I won a signed shirt from in a charity auction who was very friendly. Also, whilst getting a lot of stick here, Matthew Rose was another who I met through his Dad who lived close by and we often travelled to games with

Good to hear about Sinclair, because for me, he is the future of our club I hope. I remember the dogs abuse he got here just for deleting his social media accounts - A lot of these players care more for our club than given credit for but their confidence is shot from the way the club has been managed of late.

I'll always be grateful to Kevin Gallen. He was walking to LR on a match day and looked across to see my young son (7'ish at the time) desperately trying to summon up the courage to call out to him. He was kind enough to cross the road to say 'hello' and sign an autograph. My son was walking on air afterwards.

He didn't have to do it, it would have been easy to look away and walk on, especially on a match day. Created an unforgettable moment for my lad for whom Kevin Gallen was indeed magic!

No such luck I'm afraid. I think he was the best manager we ever had!

Gallen is the only one I've met besides going to some Rs open day years back, which I don't really remember. Saw him in the pub after watching a game on TV. I didn't want to annoy him too much, but got a photo with him and had a small chat. The whole pub started singing magic hat. One of my favourite players growing up.

I remember seeing him in a really crappy old car in the players’ car park so maybe it had finally died a death hence the lift. No car snobbery implied btw!

Also met Tommy Smith and old Watford manager Malky Mackay in Berkhamsted in the Kebab shop. They seemed to be good mates. Also met the late Glenn Roeder several times - what a nice guy and an absolutely class player.

He probably had one to park up in White City and another for home use!
