Agreed, just had a scout around the media and as you say they are all on it. I give up, we seem to get someone settled in that’s good and then this happens. Same with quite a few of our decent players, even when we were in the PL. Sick of it…

We are, and always will be, just a stepping stone for players, managers & even directors it would seem.

I accepted that a long time ago.

Looks like it's going to happen, just what we need another upheaval.
Not sure he be too well received by Man U fans after his involvement with Manchester City.

Yes I’m sick of it too and if Man U want you it’s hard to turn down I guess . They’ll offer him 10 times what he gets here.

This story could be very demotivating for players / manager & us fans ahead of a very difficult critical run of games.
This will test RM's metal, just hopes he's up to it.

When did he join us?

Wasn’t he more CEO material than DOF? Or was he both? Mind has gone blank on that one…

I don't see why it should be de-motivating.

He probably doesn't have that much interaction with the players on a day-to-day basis.

That will be more the remit of Martin and his coaching team.

Martin isn't a mug; he knows how football works. He still lives in the Brighton area himself, so I'm sure as soon as that job comes up, he'll be wanting it.

I don't personally think we should start looking for excuses already; it's a classic symptom of a culture that does not breed success.

I still think we have every chance of finishing 3rd and getting knocked out in the first playoff round to the team that finished 6th, 25 points behind us.

On pens.

Love the optimism, however I also think we would fail in the play offs but please god no penalties.... Anyway the Championship has been good to us Saints fans so far. Another year of winning more than losing would be nice and I fear next year in the Premier league would be very difficult for the team we support.

So Jim f@cking Ratcliffe, a multi billionnaire who lives in Hampshire, decides he wants to take the director of football of his local team, probably because when he's sat in his Hampshire mansion reading his local news, he finds out we have quite a successful director of football, who has only been here a year, just at a vital point in our season. That's right, cause upheaval to disrupt our season. That's nice of him isn't it. Don't you just hate these top 6 clubs.

I did say "could" be demotivating (not would be).
It depends on how the players & Manager deal with it.
But, it might not happen & if it does we'll move as we always do.

Wilcox will probably do a good job at United but he's the wrong man for Saints so I wont be too bothered if he goes. He's part of the whole "let's copy Man City" playbook which is the wrong approach for a small club like SFC (small in PL terms).

We need someone with a better idea of how to use our budget effectively. For example, our squad is full of tippy tappy lightweight midgets. We could do with mixing in some physicality.

But unfortunately the owners are set on this track and if Wilcox goes we'll just get Wilcox lite. We'll need to learn some harsh lessons in the Prem, like Burnley are doing, before we adapt to reality.
