True and the table substantiates this.
However whilst Aldershot score a lot of goals they also leak goals at the back and we did not pressurise them.

Pretty comfortable until the penalty, 1 minute before half time. Looked a rash challenge from Taylor who was rightly hooked at half time. Second half performance was really disappointing.

There must surely be someone on a par with Mellor (or better) in the youth team, he isn't good enough even for this level. We should be trying to develop a youngster of our own between now and season-end, instead. Bad signing.

In defence of Mellor, who was ineffective, I did notice that he made quite a few runs in the second half that were either unseen or ignored. I'm not really sure what he brings though, it's not strength, pace or trickery and hopefully he's just a body to plug in until injured players return. On the subject of injured players it was good to see Jez back though he looked understandably rusty. Brooks looked competent with what little he had to do and couldn't be blamed for any of the goals. Lastly, instead of hooking Cameron John I would have had him revert to left back to replace Armstrong, who I'm not fully convinced by.

What about the new keeper, Brooks, did he do look decent or not, I see Moulden was still on the bench for Northampton. McNulty may be right that we may have been rusty after not having a game for a couple of weeks, so hopefully we can put it right next week.

At the moment, 4 out of the next 5 games are at home, and hope we can get bodies back from injury.

Brooks did well enough, wasn't at fault for any of the goals and his kicking wasn't horrendous. I remember he made one decent save in the second half but it wasn't like Aldershot peppered him or anything so it's still early to judge. He did go out of his way to try and console Taylor after he'd given away the penalty and appears to be making the effort to bond with the defence.
