Personally I have always been of the mind that it is better to know what the opposite viewpoint is, then perhaps you can decide what is sh*te and what isnt after considering both sides propoganda

The ads are servers by google doublclick advertising platform. Advertisers pay for “slots” that are are placed around the internet. Which ad you see is then determined by a number of factors. 1. Your google search history 2. Your browsing history (especially if you use chrome) 3. Your social media use, what you’ve viewed, who you follow etc. 4. What videos you’ve watched on platforms like YouTube 5. Your purchase history on places like Amazon 6. The content of what you write in emails if you use the gmail platform All of the above is logged for your friends too and an inference is then done that creates buckets/segments that profile you and suggest who you are and what interests you. From here you’re served adverts that are targeted to the most likely tastes you have, so the reason you’re getting these ads is that the advertisers and algorithms think you’re the kind of person that would be susceptible to them. Basically on the internet the ads you see say more about you than anything else

They make it easy to block most ads, all I have enabled is Adblock Plus and if viewing the UI site from my desktop I get zero annoying pop-up videos or ads. From a mobile, which is about 90% of my UI viewing I have to perform a weekly chore; every week I get asked by Fansnetwork to accept all cookies- if you want to stop the videos don’t accept any cookies. First of all when the site offers accept all cookies or set preferences go to set preferences and switch off all cookies not already in the off position (some are already off) but then when you reach the bottom of the page don’t press save my preferences look for the vendor preferences button, click on that and as with the cookies, turn every single one off. This will seem like it takes ages the first time you do it as there are about 100 vendors ‘legitimate interest’ buttons to turn off!! Yes, it’s a bit tedious but you soon get used to it and I’d rather spend 5 mins once a week to not be advertised at by those damned videos. Doing this gives me zero pop-up ads / vids on the mobile as well as the desktop. So, in addition to Adblock Plus, whenever Fansnetwork asks you accept cookies turn everything off not forgetting the vendors, hope this helps. Happy New Year 🥳
