I don't know enough about Bartons personal life, however he was accused of beating his partner I believe?. I know from his own footballing career that he is incapable of controlling his temperament and can very easily be overwhelmed by his emotions leading to violent abusive behaviour on and off the pitch. He does also have a wild overestimation of his abilities I'd say. He was never the footballer he believed he was.
Don't see how anyone can have a positive view of him really, perhaps besides this (in my view,) ,imagined sense where is in some way hated for speaking truth by these self righteous people you speak of but tbh I think just at best an incredibly unhealthy unhappy human being desperate to be liked and at worse a violent lunatic. | | | |
