Given the news we heard this week from Ruben that LR is now more likely to be redeveloped over a new stadium, I wanted to open up a specific thread for it.
Any ideas on how we can improve LR.

It's not paranoia, it's observed behaviour of the owners over a 12+ year period.
But, I hope they do take this opportunity (because it's unlikely to ever come around again) to do something serious and long-lasting. | | | |

tube station is 5 minutes walk. So many offices now around the stadium. ITV in at white City now, Loreal moved in recently as well and not that many options for food and drink outside westfield that don't require a second mortgage

maybe the talks are based on moving the jack tizzard school somewhere, without if moving i cant see that much w can do to the ground to improve capacity and poss extra earning potential . | |

Lot of talk about digging down – but how could this be done?
1/ Massive risk of subsidence to everything around the ground
2/ How would this increase capacity – you can't just put another tier underneath the current stands, I suspect, because of the extra load and because you'd be undermining the foundations.
3/ You can't extend the stands forwards because they're already on top of the pitch.
So as far as I can tell, if the club dug down, they'd have to rebuild all four stands. I'm sure the only way to increase capacity at Loftus Road would be to buy properties. | | | |

you wouldn't be talking to the council for 2 years about simply knocking down some office walls, it would suggest something more major might be happening.
Also I think that housing development in the White City Estate might have something to do with it too, its certainly not out the question that the Council and the Club maybe are talking about extending the footprint of the current site and maybe the Council are generally supportive of the idea of doing it.
But that might be me being too optimistic. | | | |

All I care about is a little more leg room and getting rid of the restricted views.
I don’t care about the club making revenue outside of match day or more corporate boxes. That’s for the club to worry about, not me. They may well need to do these things but none of it will improve my match day experience. [Post edited 22 Sep 2023 12:07]

I personally think the idea is to probably rebuild the current stadium to a modern standard, that way you are making it more attractive for non-matchday use and for other functions too, even if the capacity goes down to 15k-16k.

Agree. If they are going to seriously think about redeveloping LR, the capacity has to increase any way it can if it's physically possible as there would be no future in a stadium holding 16k even if it was all shiny new and had seats that were suitable for anyone other than Ronnie Corbett.
If we're reducing the capacity we may as well just leave LR as it is until it falls down. 16k would leave us with the second smallest stadium currently in the Championship, currently we have the third smallest behind Rotherham & Plymouth. | |

Just a personal thought I had.
I think I mentioned further up the thread that there is a major regeneration of the White City Estate being planned and that there is going to be 286 new homes as part of it, with half being owned intially by the council and the other half being affordable.
Maybe the plan is that the council and the club are working to buy the houses up around the LR site without upsetting the community and offer to move them to the new homes? Perhaps this is what they are planning?
You also got the Jack Tizzard School as well that we have to buy up too, I think its not beyond the realms of possibility that they end up going to where the Army Territorial Centre is now which is a bigger footprint for them.
So maybe this is why we are staying at LR, purely because there might be an chance to expand the footprint of LR. | | | |

Same thoughts, maybe the council is talking with the club about the aforementioned white city estate residential development. QPR has successfully completed a residential development in partnership at Oakland’s Old Oak Common Lane in the Borough:
5 Oct 2017 — The £175 million scheme is a joint venture between housing association Genesis and Championship football club Queens Park Rangers. The project is to deliver 605 new homes, of which 40% will be affordable and a new 40,000 ft2 creative hub aimed at attracting high tech firms. Completed July 2021
Under no illusion but what we know of the Council and the board there must be mutual interest that benefits both for them to come to the table for a discussion, 2 years long at that (note this goes back to 2021)
I reckon any planning development for LR must be carried out with the support of the council for it to be successful so this small piece of news we have is an eye opener for me
As mentioned prior, internal renovations I don’t think you will have to discuss 2 years long with council to demolish a few walls, sounds like something significant [Post edited 23 Sep 2023 2:21]

This is why I think its points to us potentially buying up some homes around LR in order to expand the footprint of the stadium with the support of the council.
like you say you wouldn't be talking to the council for 2 years simply to knock through some office walls.
Realistically, you could buy up the whole of Imre Close, the Jack Tizzard School, all the flats in and around the School and the houses behind the SBS and you would be working with a 8.0-8.5 acre site
I could then see us then knocking down the current stadium and then basically rebuilding it to a modern stand, with the rebuilt LR having a capacity of around 20,000
