Terrible news. One of my favourite-ever Dale players.

RIP Evo.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

That's awful. A very fine, dependable paper

A proper, old-fashioned, steady Eddie defender. Awful news.

Terribly sad news. As said above he'd be right up there in any discussion about who our best ever right back was and one of the main reasons in the up turn in our fortunes when Steve Parkin arrived as manager in 1999.

RIP Evo.

Incredibly sad news. Great servant, solid player and a really nice guy when I had the pleasure of meeting him.

The look of joy on his face when he scored 1 of our 6 v Carlisle is a lasting memory.

RIP Wayne.

Yeah remember that goal well, shot from around 25 yards out that the keeper had covered until it hit a divot and somehow bounced over the keepers hands. I think Evo had even turned around heading back to defend until the crowd cheered to let him know he'd just scored! Mr dependable and hardly missed a game. RIP.

Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10

So true, he was dependable, know when to stop a player, when to put it in row Z, and such a calming influence on the rest of the back four.
Strange how life is I have loads of creaks and groans and Wayne was miles fitter than I ever was, but he goes at a much younger age.
Condolence to all his family.

RIP Wayne and condolence to the family.

I remember at Kidderminster away we were in the **** and were desperate for a win.

Under the cosh Leo Bertos popped on in and we held on to win 1-0.

The 3 points might still not have been enough but we had a good day with most other results that mattered going in our favour. In a time when it was still the radio as smart phones had not yet been introduced, Evo was first over at the full time whistle asking all the dale fans had we done enough. We all celebrated together when we knew it was a great win combined with other favourable results.

Bloody good dependable right back who gave his all every game.

a very sad day.

Superb by Walsall and Dale to respect a player who thoroughly deserves it and helping out his family.

Any chance of a coach or two being put on?
