First time I haven't bothered in 50 years, I am sick to death of party politics. We are sorely short of talent in politics generally but the level of ability in Rochdale in my experience is pathetically low. And frankly the ability of those in senior Council positions is probably worse. I wish all the independents well, it seems like its the only chance for common sense to prevail, unfortunately there isn't one in my ward.

I popped down to vote and asked the lady if turnout had been good. She said, "it's been unusually high".

I presume she meant more folk had turned out, but it might be voters have been on the glue!

or Labour (pathetic locally). I don't vote in General elections because I don't like our political system, where it's only ever Conservative or Labour that can be in power. What's the point of other political parties being in existence at National level?
