Fouls: 0-4 (we've not drawn a single foul!!! and despite them having the ball so much, we only fouled htem 4 times!)
passes: 357-55
accurate passes: 326-25!!
Passing accuracy %: 91%-45%

amazingly, we only have 1 less inaccurate pass than they do

Endless respect to anyone who’s spent time and money going to watch this, gruelling doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Burnley should be 3 or 4 up already, we’re giving them all the time they want to pick out crosses, Drewe and Paal are being vivisected, our midfield is nonexistent and we’ve had 13% possession.

Burst out laughing with that corner of ours at the end. We finally get a set piece, a chance to create something just ahead of half time and at least go in with a bit of positivity, and we kick it into the shins of the first defender. Just inexcusably bad.

Only vague positives are that Reading are behind, Dickie deserves some credit for his two goal-line clearances, and we all expected things to be this bad beforehand.

Shame we can't change to 3 CB's and 2 wing backs (owing to what we have available). Would really help here. Ainsworth needs to be very clever with his tactics. Should put Chair in the middle of the park so that we have a fulcrum when/if we get it out from the back.

the only way we can keep possession with some reliability is getting chair on the ball and letting him dribble (which he did once)

yet we shunt him to the left where his chances of getting on the ball are so much less than if he's in the center of the park

what is the point of a second striker? if ainsworth had half a brain, he'd go to a 4-2-3-1 (dropping lowe into a wide position and shifting chair to a 10)... more defensive cover with another body behind the ball, more ability to counterattack w lowe's pace on the wing (rather than using him to win second ball flick ons) and more ability to retain ball with chair in better position to collect ball

It's horrible. Absolutely no threat, but 4 attacking players on the pitch. Plus Tim (I think that's him having a quiet stroll). What's the point? GA may feel justified at 0-0, but that's about them missing chances, and the much maligned Dickie saving us 3 times. So narrow, so slow.

This is one of those situations where I fear the manager would have been hoping to get to 0-0 at half time, and having done so, will feel his approach is working.

The problem is that it’s absolutely not working, we’ve been exceptionally lucky, and the reality is Burnley will easily win this if we try to do the same thing 2nd half.

Admittedly I’m not sure there’s much to be done by us that can stop a side as good as them, but you would hope for a few adjustments at half time. Drewe needs cover.
