Lovely film, can't believe it is nearly 50 years ago and nice footage of the old loft.

Fuel crisis - plus ca change, Rodders...

Anyone know when the Loft was renovated?

The floodlights were replaced in 1964 and cost about £15,000.
The Loft and School End stands were built 1980-81.

Those lights were pretty good, they had two power settings - about half for pre match effing about and full power for the actual game.
I remember one night (I think we were playing Leeds)the game started on half power, one of the oppo forwards put in a thunderous effort and at that precise moment the lights came up full whack, keeper blinded and ball bulged the net.I think we lost by the single goal.Anybody else remember this?

That climb looked terrifying on a good day yet it was cold and damp when Noakes went up

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

He did Big Ben and Nelson's Column - that last one looked terrifying (See if you can find it) so that was probably a piece of cake.

He also set a civilian record for a parachute freefall and had a bad crash on the Cresta Run.

Makes appearing on Strictly a bit tame!

Peter Duncan did Big Ben. He asked one of the clock face cleaners as he was about to step out to get in the Bosuns chair whether he needed a harness. The reply was ‘up to you if you want but it is perfectly safe without one!’ Watched it yesterday and it is toe curling in the extreme.

Fred Dibnah was the boy. Watch him on Youtube knocking down an industrial chimney using ladders.

Holy fu*k that was amazing and terrifying at the same time.
Imagine how strong their hands had to be and no gloves to help the rope burn .If he cramped up or lost a foothold he would fall backwards and down .
Then he went to the very top fair play to him.
I will have to look for a current video to see the safety regulations today .
Even still I would pass on that adventure .

1981 was the one year when the School End was the home end.
