When we avoided relegation in 17/18 after being so far adrift, I think there was a similar thread towards the end of the season which followed the scores of the other clubs around us.

In the spirit of superstition starting it now could help again. Theory being the earlier the better and safe by Easter.

Crawley losing 2-0 to Stevenage at the moment tonight.

Poll: Greatest Ever Dale Game

In September, we lost on the 17th and won on the 20th and 24th.

In November, we lost on the 5th, won on the 8th and lost on the 12th.

I'm not sure your prediction holds much water - unlike Carlisle!

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

Quite, as a Carlisle United supporter who wishes Rochdale well, I am guilty of solely looking at my perception of the Carlisle United weaknesses without investigating how they rank alongside those of other clubs.

In general the concerned supporter of a club firstly looks into what can go wrong and tends to believe that rather than what can go well.

Rochdale supporters believe that more points are needed to finish above 23rd than will almost certainly be the case. I have seen 50 points mentioned on here.

I believe that 41 points will suffice. If the minimum safety points target actually turns out to be more than 45 points you can chop my Dickov.

Gillingham and Hartlepool are both in FA Cup action this weekend.
Colchester are at Harrogate.

Come on Rochdale, give Bradford City a good seeing-to.

On Saturday it will be Gillingham (24th) v Hartlepool United (23rd) & Rochdale (22nd) v Colchester United (20th).

A win by a margin of 4 goals would put Rochdale above Colchester United.

hypothetically speaking….

Let there be a draw in the Gillingham v Hartlepool United match, with each team playing an unregistered player and both teams getting a point deducted, whilst Rochdale beat Colchester United by 4 goals.

A goal and an assist on his debut as he helped Gills to a huge win.

We are simply not good enough.

i don't doubt the attitude or commitment of the players.

This team will definitely take us down.

Bentley will prob wait until the last few days of the window to see what scraps he can bring in.

You may as well stick me ,James and Talking Sutty into the team..there be no doubt about our efforts but we would simply not have the talent to make a difference!!!...as per the present incumbents..

To keep believing that things will change is a forlorn hope....theres only 20 games left and i don't see 2 teams that are worse than us,

I hope to be proven wrong but i don't see any light at the end of the tunnel with this squad as it is

I am looking at the fixtures for this month, I feel Colchester did not look much better then us, but have strengthen their squad, so may have enough to escape the relegation fight.

next week:
Hartlepool - The Dale (we need to avoid defeat and if possible win)
Colchester - Gillinghan (I may want Colchester to win)
Sutton - Crawley (hopefully a Sutton win)
Newport - Wimbledon

24/01:
Carlisle - Hartlepool (we need Carlisle do us a favour)
Crawley - Grimsby
Colchester - Salford

28/01:
Dale - Carlisle
Crawley - Salford (hopefully a Salford win)
Hartlepool - Colchester
Grimsby - Newport (hopefully a Grimsby win)
Swindon - Gillingham (we need a favour from Swindon)

What worries me, is in February we have some tough games, in that we have Salford (A), Northampton (H), Orient (A), Gillingham (H), Crewe (A), Stockport (H) - So we need points from the next two games and hope other teams do us a massive favour.

When you watch the Football League show and see what players of other League Two clubs are capable of, it becomes blindingly obvious how bad this group of players are.

Yes I'd agree with you there.

3-1 now

We need to be clutching at every bit of stray straw in our position

Been watching for the last ten minutes or so and Hartlepool are god awful. Just shows how utterly garbage we are for them to turn us over.

Plus it puts Carlisle in position to be knocking on the top three door

Saturday is going to be one hell of a test of whether we're even going to be staying in touch, or just letting go

Said it on another thread that Simpson will be licking his lips at the prospect of rinsing us on Saturday. I’m clutching at more straws than you that he might be too keen to beat us and get his lads so fired up they’ll make stupid challenges like, erm, our players did on Saturday

The question is, do we want Colchester to beat Hartlepool on Saturday or would a draw be better for us. I think Colchester have now recruited enough to escape the drop, they are 7 points ahead of us (which in our case is massive), but we have a game in-hand on them.

We also need Salford to do us a favour at Crawley, Swindon to beat Gillingham and Grimsby to beat Newport, besides Sutton to do us a favour at Harrogate and at the same time, we must also do something unique at beat Carlisle. if all that happens, I will be amazed.

Now that would be a bloody good accumulator!

I think it’s all pretty irrelevant when you look at our performance on Saturday. We could go the rest of the season without picking up another point with these pathetic specimens representing the club.

Yet two weeks ago we came back from play off chasing Bradford with the points.

We all know what happened after that.
