Great choice. Not an overplayed one neither. In fact you probably hear the cover versions of it more rather than the original here by the guy who wrote it.
Donny Hathaway was a genius but a very troubled soul. I think had he managed to overcome his mental health problems and not taken his own life he'd have eventually gone on to compose film scores and the like.

6 I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday Wizzard
Interestingly:
"Despite losing the 1973 battle for the Christmas number one spot, Wizzard's 'I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday' has become equally as loved as its Slade rival. In ITV's 'The Nation's Favourite Christman Song' special in 2012 'I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday' was voted second, behind 'Fairytale of New York' and ahead of 'Merry Xmas Everybody'."
I think I probably personally have Wizzard edging ig over Slade these days.
2012 is ten years ago. So I thought at get a more current opinion. There are so many lists out there, based on quite a few criteria. Oddly - to me at least - Mariah Carey comes out top on the vast majority of these "charts". Can't stand that one.
'All I Want For Christmas Is You' blatantly rips off the tune for 'Santa Claus Is Coming To Town' (particularly Spector's arrangement for The Crystals) and I'm amazed no one has pointed this out before. Or is it just me?
