Obviously the congratulations go to Henderson for breaking the record, but you’ll struggle to find a better ball played by a Dale player than the one played by Brierley to set it up.
Make no mistake that first 30 was awful. Ebj must be blind if he couldnt see the issues. No press, too deep and Swiss Jimmy marking thin air. Thank god for Brierley. Twice the value of Sinclair in his time on the pitch. Rodney is useless, Ball obsessed with going backwards. Well done to Hendo but he needs to be benched now. His job is done. I hope to see us actually start on saturday trying to attack not sat in our own half.

Well tonight Rochdale must love Ian Henderson more that he could know. It was a tortuous and convoluted journey but congrats to him on a remarkable achievement. The likes of which will be rarely seen at a professional level in the years to come. Well done my son. It was all about the result tonight and if you don’t concede you always have a chance, mission accomplished. I do like the cut of EBJ’s jib.

Obviously he could see the issues, he altered the shape when he saw it wasn't working, pushing ball further forward, whether that worked is debatable, but he had to vision to see his set up wasn't working and tried to alter it.
You can't really expect him to do much more with the limited options available.
Leader of the little gang of immature cretins.

I can. He changed nothing for 40 minutes and Salford could have been out of sight by then. And I agree we have no real options but at least play on the front foot

Yeah, that he made a tactical change must be recognised as it was brave to play Ball ahead of Diagouraga and almost go with a midfield diamond before Brierley came on and changed the game.
Watching Brierley’s movement and appreciation of space makes games much more enjoyable. We have to find a way of getting him on the pitch as much as possible.
He tried to by playing 4-4-2 but it simply didn’t work because we weren’t getting it wide quickly enough and looking to go forward directly.
For all their possession though, how many real saves did O’Donnell have to make? If anything their better chances came in the second half when we were much more in the game.
Agree with that. A smaller turning point for me came after Odoh's horrible attempt at finding Ball on the edge of the box first half, something of an all-time low and we then picked ourselves up
The change to Brierley was well-timed and he'd already sprayed a couple of passes which were beyond anything his team-mates could've done before that aerial ball with a gorgeous loop on it just begging for a finish. Salford had just hit the post and missed an absolute sitter before that, but there's no way this team under EBJ was going to give it away after that
Fabulous scenes at the end. From the ridiculous to the sublime; that's Dale all over
Could have but weren't. Our boys worked hard. We scored, they didn't. We won 1-0. Great game. Well done Hendo.. I'm so pleased I was there to witness it

That was exactly what I said. I predicted at HT it would finish 1-0 with Hendo scoring the winner @ 90 + 3. Wish I'd had a bet now. He was never going to break the record any other way
Thought we set off really positive. Like a team that had had a right bollocking after the last match. That disappeared after about 5 mins and we reverted into our shell. Salfords wide men were hugging the touch lines and our midfield were struggling. But for their poor finishing (Rochdale esq at times) they could have been out of site. EBJ changed the formation and we looks better and got to half time level. Second half was pretty even but a touch of class from Brierley and Hendo’s finish got us over the line. Until then I thought Hendo’s contribution was,as it has been most of the season, negligible. But full credit to the man he did what he is paid to do and put the ball i the back of the net. Glad I was there for that iconic moment.
