Mid Season Break on 20:33 - Nov 16 with 1041 views
The mid season break provides the opportunity to reflect on Appleton's impact. After all, nearly half of the season (21 league) games has been played and so it stand to reason that we'll be seeing the manifestation some kind of identity or development in the team.
I'm of the opinion that Appleton's inadequacies have been amplified by failings in other departments at the club.
Despite being dealt an awful hand, Appleton's marshalled his available resources terribly.
Never have we played to our strengths. Square pegs have been shoved in. Thinking has been muddled. Players' individual abilities are regressing. The team on the pitch has no strategy, nor coherence and players are lost and don't understand their roles.
It reeks of bad coaching.
Should we get rid?
Only someone on the inside - Gerrity - will now that. If there's something fundamentally wrong with the manager he should be the one who knows, he is Sadler's eyes, ears and boots on the ground and he should know if there's something badly amiss. If not, Appleton should be backed.
Other people and departments also need to come under the microscope.
If Appleton is to go the a determined bid has to be made for the best candidate. NO can't be taken for an answer for the right guy. Evatt springs to mind.
Having said all that, I'm in favour of continuity. If the man-on-the-ground (Gerrity) deems that everything is OK manager / first team squad wise then it's obvious that Appleton should be given the chance to turn things around when injuries come back and a couple of players are added in January.
The signs aren't encouraging but only an insider would really know.

The squad, including Lyons, landed in Aliancte yesterday evening:
Squad Lands In Spain For Training Camp
The Blackpool squad touched down in Spain on Wednesday evening for the start of a six-day training camp.Â
Joined by Andy Lyons, the Seasiders made their way through Alicante airport and headed on a coach to the hotel complex where they will be based for the duration of the stay.Â
With temperatures set to be in the early 20s, Blackpool will make good use of the climate for warm weather training, maintaining fitness levels ahead of a return to Sky Bet Championship action following the World Cup break.

I've never heard of them but Coventry's upturn in fortunes over the last 5 years coupled with various newspaper reports suggest that recruiting Badlan and Benthom is a very positive step.
Recruitment hasn't been quite as good since Tommy Johnson left.
