I dunno you could rearrange those songs in any ranking you like and it would always be acceptable. An unsurpassable band for style, quality, musicianship, studio craft and songwriting.
First gig I went to after (or between) the Lockdowns was Nearly Dan at the Camden Jazz Cafe. Mooched in late half way through Haitian Divorce (one of my faves) felt like I was in a film. First face I see at the bar - Mel - we both let out a bellowing U RRRsss!!!. He turns around to his friend and says “It’s okay it’s a QPR thing”
Fantastic band. Nearly, and of course Steely.
Yes there’s gas in the car …

An Rs mate just said in a WhassApp group today is the 45th anniversary of his first visit to Loftus Road. So I looked thru through the programme of that day in 1977 and sent him some images.
Looking closely at the crowd behind big Phil I was astonished to see …
… Donald Fagen smoking a cigar!

1. Haitian Divorce 2. Kid Charlemagne 3. Aja 4. My Old School 5. Pearl Of The Quarter
Do It Again & Sign In Stranger is both kicking up a fuss to get in there. I’ll be endeavouring to listen to the whole Steely Dan discography this week to see if that top 5 changes
Come on Señor Dmm … originator of this thread … what’s your top 5?

Okay, Herr Paddox. I will attempt a top 5 just for you. But, as I intimated in my OP, it could easily be a different top 5 by lunchtime.
1. Pegg 2. My Old School 3. Rikki Don't Lose That Number 4. Reelin' In The Years 5. Bad Sneakers
I listened to an hour and a half of Steely Dan in the car the other day. I never tire of Becker and Fagen except for the song Do It Again which I've heard so many times, both long and short versions, that it's just worn thin on me.

What a splendid surprise to come across this thread, whilst at our current lofty position.
My Mum & Dad introduced me to the Dan and I’ve passed their brilliance on to my kids. We’ve been lucky enough to see them live together as three generations (sadly minus Becker).
