Kwarteng’s Budget on 21:53 - Sep 23 with 2043 views | Bazza | But how much will a person earning a million pay in tax?
Kwarteng’s Budget on 22:04 - Sep 23 with 2033 views | Bazza | Point 2 is wrong because many wise pensioners will have work pensions on top of state pensions so they will get the benefit of the reduction in tax albeit small.
Kwarteng’s Budget on 22:25 - Sep 23 with 2030 views | PatfromPoole | About £3 a week max.

Kwarteng’s Budget on 10:58 - Sep 24 with 1804 views | GRIM | The tax reduction benefit will be miniscule for Pensioners compared to the outrageous Tax reductions the average Saints player will get. This mini budget is the worst I've ever experienced for the low earners & Pensioners.

Kwarteng’s Budget on 11:43 - Sep 24 with 1773 views | SalisburySaint | This will spark another increase in petrol prices as oil paid for in dollars, that’s really going to help inflation yet another consequence of this ridiculous mini budget

Kwarteng’s Budget on 12:24 - Sep 24 with 1747 views | Berber | And many of those pension pots are made up from stocks and shares portfolios, which, having taken a 20-30% hit from Covid and Putin, now face further market devaluation as bankers further pillage the market, making trades to enhance their bonuses. Meantime, the cost of travel and oil/gas which are dollar based pricing have just got more expensive, which will increase the borrowing that we all will have to pay for. Nobody in the world economic scene thinks these moves are the right thing, apart from the Tory right wing. Nearly all Tory MPs are multi millionaires, hmmmm, could that have anything to do with it?

Kwarteng’s Budget on 13:42 - Sep 24 with 1687 views | Southamptonfan | I've no problem with a tax cut for working people as such and cutting stamp duty for house buyers, but they shouldn't have cut the tax rate of 45% to 40% for People earning millions a year. We all know Ronaldo, Haaland, Salah and co don't f@cking need it. They could even have moved the threshold for when the 45% comes in, like people who earn 300 grand a year plus, if they must. But millionaires getting a load more tax back when they don't need it, only for the government to borrow more and more, crippling future generations is terrible and will be f@cking suicidal for them at the next election.

Kwarteng’s Budget on 15:28 - Sep 24 with 1633 views | kernow | Jay will be happy with Mrs Jay's new carpets and curtains. Other than that one positive I'm not reading too much positivity on here. Could this be like the 1983 Labour manifesto described as the "longest suicide note in history" ? Carry on.
Kwarteng’s Budget on 17:11 - Sep 24 with 1572 views | Bazza | Perhaps, but could be a lot more it depends on your work pension
Kwarteng’s Budget on 17:35 - Sep 24 with 1560 views | washington_saint | Cos' this place is a giant echo chamber. People should be encouraged to work harder and the more successful you are the more you'll earn, which in turn means more taxes that can be used to help those that really need it not those that EXPECT it. Simple really: and a model that has allowed people from all walks of life to be successful in the US. Why should people who work really hard have to pay for those who choose not to? That is Socialism at its worst and leads to a country stagnating. As is happening in the UK after the ridiculous COVID farce and people being paid to stay at home and not work.
Kwarteng’s Budget on 23:46 - Sep 24 with 1431 views | dirk_doone | It's great to hear you've left England and made so much money out there in Joe Biden's America. We can understand why you love him so much. What did you do to escape from England? Marry an American? [Post edited 24 Sep 2022 23:50]

Kwarteng’s Budget on 00:16 - Sep 25 with 1402 views | dirk_doone | The poor unfortunate ones who didn't escape from England and live in the paradise of Joe Biden's America like Washington Saint. Fair enough, I understand why Washington Saint is lording it over us. The dollar/pound exchange rate is enough to show us that Joe Biden's economic policies are far more effective than Boris's or Liz's. [Post edited 25 Sep 2022 0:34]

Kwarteng’s Budget on 00:59 - Sep 25 with 1389 views | washington_saint | You've just proven my point. It's nothing to do with Biden and more to do with the American mindset. For all the faults/issues it is still a place where you can be what you want to be through hard work and a modicum of luck. And my move was for work - and I'm proud of my adopted country for all the opportunities it has given me and the fact that there is not a shaming of/jealousy for successful people and a feeling that successful people should be made to pay for those that feel they are entitled to the State looking out for them. My parents were working class and never asked for any handout from the State. My mum's sister, on the other hand, has always sponged off the State and never done a proper days work in her 70+ years. That is the culture and sense of entitlement that will hold the UK back.
Kwarteng’s Budget on 01:19 - Sep 25 with 1386 views | dirk_doone | So, basically you married an American, yes? But, I must admit, what Joe Biden is doing for a 79-year-old is pretty remarkable.

Kwarteng’s Budget on 11:08 - Sep 25 with 1272 views | grumpy | 'a feeling that successful people should be made to pay for those that feel they are entitled to the State looking out for them' You are generalizing too much ,there are people that have fallen on hard times who have worked hard and look to the state to help them. Why should 'successful people' not help those that are not so through no fault of their own?
Kwarteng’s Budget on 12:13 - Sep 25 with 1225 views | inthebox | This forum is an example of the intention this budget is attempting to achieve, it's classic divide and rule ideology of Milton Friedman economics where you create a rich class 1%, a envious/angst ridden middle class 49% and a just about managing lower class 40% and a non class on benefits /food banks 10%. Brazil is a good example.
