NL’s Rotherham United v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 22;23 12:44 - Jul 25 with 32490 views | NotLoyal | It’s the first game of the season at a newly promoted side away from home. The likely outcome is obvious but we have to have some hope. A draw would be decent, these first games of the season away from home are no guide but can often end in defeat. Away Fans Info A decent place to meet is at the union club and the owner opens his front and back doors to away fans for all Rotherham United matches. Here are the details. The Union Club, ( Transport Club ) Union Street, Masbrough, Rotherham S61 1AA The owner Paul is on 07565853802 if you want to contact him to open up at a certain time. They sell a wide range of beers, cider and have a decent pub food menu. About a ten minute walk to the stadium. Rotherham ‘Facts Explained ’ Gordon Banks is from Rotherham, he was a goalkeeper who only had one eye when he retired. Gordon in currently dead. Pocket Handkerchief Lane, now there’s a name to work with ? It’s a name of a lane in Rotherham. It is said that in this lane the Pocket Handkerchief was first conceived. Not literally. However we think that could be a load of bollocks. The Chuckle brothers are from Rotherham. Nowadays they are a singular act as one of them is also currently dead. Saxon and Jive Bunny are from the town, hard to work out I know. Especially when legend has it that Barnsley is where Saxon hail from. Even more difficult is Jive Bunny. They do come from Rotherham and often got themselves in a right pickle. We know you won’t believe this but the first football was made out of cheese in Rotherham. It was made by a chap called Billy Miller. Billy was the cousin of another Rotherham great named William of Hague. Hence the nickname ‘The Millers’ That’s possibly enough true, startling and fun facts for now. https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/swanseacity/news/58075/big-swansea-city-s Rotherham United: Viktor Johansson, Wes Harding, Dan Barlaser, Richard Wood (captain), Ben Wiles, Chiedozie Ogbene, Conor Washington, Jamie Lindsay, Shane Ferguson, Grant Hall, Cam Humphreys. NL’s Rotherham United v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 22;23 on 19:03 - Jul 30 with 2335 views | Joesus_Of_Narbereth | What does fisher have to do with it? He had a solid enough game I thought. The point is this. We created a chance that would be an easy tap in 99.9% of the time it was harder to miss. We created other good chances which were either missed or well saved. Does this indicate a problem with the coaching? Or the tactics? I’d be an awful lot more concerned if we weren’t creating any chances. But the result today was down to individual player errors, particularly from Obafemi who couldn’t control anything all day. Their goal was a foul that would have been chalked off if VAR were in play and apart from the bicycle kick that was well saved we limited them to a few long shots/half chances. It’s frustrating to drop points but let’s not over react with this we are doomed stuff.

NL’s Rotherham United v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 22;23 on 19:05 - Jul 30 with 2326 views | jasper_T | Charlton demolished the new formation last week, so no surprise we reverted to the norm. Same issues as last season. Exhausting triangles in our own half that break down without creating many chances and give teams the chance to counter. Piroe made enough chances to win the game on his own, unfortunately Obafemi brought his clogs. We're in big trouble if we lose Joel. Darling looks a soft touch, but as long as the refs give him the benefit and he scores the occasional screamer we can live with that. Wood is the better defender for me so far. Both gave away cheap possession when asked to step into midfield, which of course they will they're not midfielders. Sorinola isn't good enough. Can't beat a man or pick a cross. Maybe just needs time after not getting games in the Belgian pub league. Latibeaudiere never will be good enough in advanced positions, his attempt was almost as poor as Obafemi's but the offside flag saved his blushes. Bless him he tries but he's an undersized centre half not a winger. Another embarrassing booking for Martin on the sideline. Grow up, young man.
NL’s Rotherham United v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 22;23 on 19:05 - Jul 30 with 2328 views | CanveySwan | First game of the season and we got a point. League isn’t won in August, sorry July 😂. Think we’ll do well this season, like the great Leroy Jethro Gibbs would say, I have a gut feeling.
NL’s Rotherham United v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 22;23 on 19:15 - Jul 30 with 2267 views | Sirjohnalot | It’s an hour from home, had. Greggs, nice coffee, entertained by a game, but if not for a missed sitter, we’d have won and I got back to my wife handing me a curry she’d ordered. Can’t beat it.
NL’s Rotherham United v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 22;23 on 19:15 - Jul 30 with 2267 views | KeithHaynes | He was MOM. Obafemi off the pace, not Martins fault. He had the chances. Fisher on the pace, a terrific change in his ability, he is obviously working hard. Some say it’s because of the coach, some say it’s down to the players. Either way it’s only to suit a certain narrative.

NL’s Rotherham United v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 22;23 on 19:25 - Jul 30 with 2218 views | magicdaps10 | I think personally that Martin was right to stand up and question the decision that ultimately got him the yellow card. The decision that was virtually right in front of him was an absolute disgrace. I think it's harsh to say he needs to grow up, he could have reacted alot worse as the decision was so bad.

NL’s Rotherham United v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 22;23 on 19:26 - Jul 30 with 2212 views | Fireboy2 | Think i saw you at the game John, you were too far away though. Really good atmosphere today from the 1500+ jacks. We would have won if oba didn't have the touch of an elephant. Is it only me that thought that lati had a good game, yes he isnt a wingback but he ran his blood to water, sorrinola had a decent game. We definitely need another wingback with pace as we are one dimensional with no pace on the flanks and better teams will put us to the sword. Overall I'm disappointed but at least we didn’t lose, onwards and upwards to the blackburn game.
NL’s Rotherham United v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 22;23 on 19:30 - Jul 30 with 2194 views | magicdaps10 | I don't think anyone can shift blame to Martin after that today. I think Darling and Wood brought a bit more steel to the back 3. I think there is a lot more calmness, speed, muscle and athleticism there and the wing backs seemed to be quicker getting back defensively and we were rarely exposed down the flanks. Our issue today was the final 3rd, Obefami gad a shocker and the movement was terrible at times.

NL’s Rotherham United v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 22;23 on 19:32 - Jul 30 with 2177 views | magicdaps10 | Joel Lati didn't let himself down one bit today, he put an admirable performance in and he got up and down that right side for 90 minutes. It just seems that some people are knocking the exact same things from last season..... I would say just a case to justify that they were correct.

NL’s Rotherham United v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 22;23 on 19:36 - Jul 30 with 2167 views | krunchykarrot | Lati does hos best but its obvious that he cannot play WB. Where is Rushesha is he worth looking at? We definitely need pace down the flanks, it was criminal how far Piroe dropped at times. And i keep asking what is Pato doing is he our playmaker?
NL’s Rotherham United v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 22;23 on 20:13 - Jul 30 with 2074 views | Sirjohnalot | In a red and white and blue, kinda short sleeve checked shirt thing. Couldn’t believe that miss. Actually took a lot of skill not to score. 999/1000 he’d have scored that.
NL’s Rotherham United v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 22;23 on 20:20 - Jul 30 with 2039 views | Sirjohnalot | Apparently, there was trouble after the game according to someone on the bbc website messages, I left straight after so didn’t see anything myself.
NL’s Rotherham United v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 22;23 on 20:37 - Jul 30 with 1986 views | Fireboy2 | As the players were clapping the fans there seem to be a melee to the far right of the away support, I also saw one old d!ckhead of a man trying to get at the swans fans outside the ground.
NL’s Rotherham United v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 22;23 on 20:41 - Jul 30 with 1969 views | Sirjohnalot | I walked back to the multi storey with their fans. Nice bunch. Always going to get idiots in all supporters
NL’s Rotherham United v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 22;23 on 20:44 - Jul 30 with 1945 views | jasper_T | Rushesha did his ACL again before the end of last season, not sure how far along he is in recovery. He'd been playing the Naughton role in the middle of the back three for the u23s as he's not a flying wingback type. McFayden is the best fit for someone to step up, got goals and assists from left wing back last season.
NL’s Rotherham United v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 22;23 on 20:50 - Jul 30 with 1932 views | QJumpingJack | there was a Swans fan (green jacket) goading the Rotherham fans and then he started to get aggressive to a much older Swans fan in the second row. Very odd and sad to see. He was escorted out and somehow returned just before final whistle.
NL’s Rotherham United v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 22;23 on 20:52 - Jul 30 with 1920 views | Sirjohnalot | Yes, I never understand travelling God knows how long from Swansea to spend half the game not watching the match but having a go at the oppo fans.
NL’s Rotherham United v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 22;23 on 21:06 - Jul 30 with 1885 views | krunchykarrot | Thanks Jasper, the times i saw him play he was RWB or attacking FB sad to hear. I missed that as i thought he was on the mend. Where do you see CamCon playing in the current set up?

NL’s Rotherham United v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 22;23 on 21:41 - Jul 30 with 1793 views | CanveySwan | And Gibbs newest rule number 91, never look back. Think we need to move on from this draw and look forward to the next game
NL’s Rotherham United v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 22;23 on 21:53 - Jul 30 with 1735 views | Dr_Parnassus | It’s 2 points dropped, let’s be fair. But it’s also not the end of the world, a draw away from home is never a disaster. Slightly disappointing and not the note we would want to start on - but not a disaster. Needs improvement though.

NL’s Rotherham United v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 22;23 on 21:53 - Jul 30 with 1746 views | Catullus | How about rule 5, which is what I think he does by playing Piroe in behind Oba, for me they'd both be up front. Which is where rule 51 comes back in. I am looking forward to the next game but in the hope that lessons are being learned and things that don't work are changed.

NL’s Rotherham United v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 22;23 on 07:40 - Jul 31 with 1329 views | Brynmill_Jack | It did seem to be a genuine improvement- trouble is Martin will never sub Grimes - Congreive coming on today for him may have got the job done. Looks like Fulton will be the sacrificial lamb when Allen is fit which is a shame as I favour him over Grimes any day of the week.

NL’s Rotherham United v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 22;23 on 08:29 - Jul 31 with 1271 views | jruss | Grimes had a good game yesterday while Fulton served up his usual nothing performance outside of almost gifting them a goal with a lazy touch. Fulton one of the most over rated players we've got.
NL’s Rotherham United v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 22;23 on 08:30 - Jul 31 with 1267 views | onehunglow | What narrative Keith. Fans have opposing views.I do not have a narrative and the word is both misused and overused and often used as a pejorative. Rotherham are a team that will be put to sleep long before the end of the season. We are utterly incapable of doing that. Why is Martin overseeing a team passing it backwards in the 94th minute of play and then sideways. They was zero urgency . Anyway,at least most comments are insult free, which is a positive.
