Second favourites for relegation 23:05 - Jul 18 with 15442 viewsdalebolt

According to Sky Bet we are second favourites for relegation after Barrow. We are 9/2 to go down. Forgive me for being overly optimistic but I thought we’d be top ten this season. Obviously Stockport are favourites to win the league. Other bookies have us struggling to stay up as well.

Great news. We always rise to a challenge - even if it is in the 90th minute on the last match of the season.

Crazy really. That magazine was probably sent to the printer weeks ago before anyone could assess squads and new signings properly.

We're playing L2 teams though, not the bookies. Whilst they usually get it about right, let's hope our season is an exception.

Curran and Jarvo probably stuck a fiver on us being relegated out of spite and it's moved the odds

If I remember right the bookies had us favourite for relegation for Steve Parkin’s first season in charge. I think on the last day of the season it was mathematically possible to get playoffs!

Rarely has there been a season we’ve not been picked as a good bet to go down!

It was printed well before Hendo came back for one

No surprise there. The harsh fact is we struggled last season and lost the better players from that side. I think League Two is stronger this season. It's very easy to see why the bookies have us down for relegation.

BUT...I'm been impressed with the majority of our recruitment. If we have a good run with injuries (lack of!), we have some quality players for L2 level.

Yep.

They asked me the questions for it before we'd signed a single player!

Yeah, this is it.

I posted it another thread a few days ago but from the outside looking in there are questions over the manager, we've lost arguably our four best performers last season and we weren't exactly good last season either.

The signings we've made are encouraging to us but if you were looking at them objectively for another club, would we be all that impressed?

The beauty of League Two is how unpredictable it can be. Salford are among the promotion favourites every year for example. We certainly could compete for the play-offs if we put a good run together and gain some momentum, but we could certainly find ourselves in a relegation battle too if we don't learn from last year's mistakes as it seems that there aren't quite as many weak teams in the league this time around.

I think the bookies are spot on , we have signed some utter S"ite so far . Does not bode well and we are still stuck with Graham and McNumpty.

Eh, if we can't be optimistic at the start of a new season, and with a good % of fresh players then when can we?

Always excited to get going let's hope we get a good start and disappoint the bookies?

I’ve booked the day off work so I can be told how to support my own club and what opinion I should have about players I see with my own eyes.
