This is surely just a ruse to attract mugs to throw away their money on bets, while at the same time giving Campbell a free ride so that it looks like he's a contender - which is of course ridiculous. Smells like it's been cooked up agents, bookmakers and clickbait merchants.
Still, there is nothing to stop the club publicly or discreetly ruling out both him and Sherwood, so I'm wondering why they don't put the dampeners on this.
Why would they? It kicks up a cloud of dust, makes it seems like there's a "big name" interested, and enables them to squeeze the price down on whoever it is they really want.
Taking one consideration with another, the club will surely name the new gaffer this week giving next week to announcing the new prices and get the process under way. There is such a lot of disgruntlement ( if there is such a word ), I hope we get someone the fans will take to and get us off to a flyer in July.
... other than that we may have to employ either of them when everyone else turns us down as we can't pay them enough and tell them that their wingback for next season will be Niko and Aaron Drewe with Sinclair Armstrong and Charlie Kelman as the main strikers....
As suspected, whoever gets the gig will be swimming uphill from the off. 'twas ever this way...
(and no, I don't think I want either of them to be fair, but hey ho...).
The choices we’ve heard so far are incredibly underwhelming but who knows, perhaps the board will pull something out the bag? If it’s Sol Campbell… His record at Southend was played 23 won 4 drew 5 lost 14. Sounds perfect!
Good point although a few people have mentioned someone of that ilk who would be a realistic option for us: Nigel Clough.
It won't happen, though, surely? Not young enough, not trendy enough, no Rangers connection, unlikely to want to leave a project which is going well and which suits him geographically.
I'd be happy with him, though.
"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."
Ive heard Emma Hayes mentioned a few times..... Yep she has done well at chelsea but its a pretty star studded squad (on a par with the mens team I reckon). Not sure how she would cope with a number of youth players having to be accomodated in the team? The remit of the new manager will be play more youth players... Shteve failed on that front (who remembers his first few games of that season???), Warbs did a pretty good job initially but in trying to make the playoffs went down the experienced route (and we all know how that turned out).
I reckon that getting rid of Warbs was a questionable but possibly justifiable decision if they’d had a good candidate lined up to step in. If they’re reduced to trawling through the dregs of the managerial scrapheap, it looks less sensible by the day.
there seems to be a lot of reaction to one tweet from a not very reliable source. Although its been the only media interest, its somewhat out of nowhere.
Any article which suggests Tim Sherwood is "in the running" is laughable.
I think we should relax until someone like Dave Mc does an article on it.
I’m really amazed that we had no one lined up after they decided not to keep Warbs on, I thought the new bloke would be employed instantly, there’s no one really out their that gets you excited to take over the reins, Campbell can F off & would be a disaster & season ticket sales would plummet
How do we know that's the case? There's nothing on the official site so anything from social media (and I include the likes of TalkSport) is just hearsay and they're just pumping for clickbait as that's their MO and livelihood.
Maybe someone has already been lined up and maybe they have to wait until Warburton's contract ends before they can announce his successor? Like players, managers contracts don't end after the last game, it's usually in June. He's still contracted so anything done by QPR now could be seen as a breach of contract.
