I remember first hearing about the Argentine invasion and no-one knew where the Falklands were. Most people thought they were somewhere off the coast of Scotland! Later I recall going down to Hythe waterfront to watch the Canberra go out, and then as the conflict developed, the government's rather morose spokesman (Ian MacDonald, I think) giving out updates on the war on telly each evening. I also remember Saints drawing 5-5 with Cov and then finding out about the sinking of HMS Sheffield on the way home. Doesn't seem like 40 years ago. [Post edited 2 Apr 2022 8:03]
