Yeah, the book nobody reads after passing the Test

Some crackers

1. Vehicles to give precedence to other road users in terms of size.
That means drivers of Bentleys ,Range Rover and Q7 Audis have to give way to pedestrians and cyclists not to mention pedestrians who get in their way.
2. Horse riders to be given two metres space. Gonna fun of country lanes that with Pippa off to the Livery
3. Cyclists given one metre . Any cyclist will scoff at that right now

Wait for it,lorry drivers giving way to all . Think of that next time these eejit are tailing yiu down the M4

Good idea but we cannot even prosecute cretins at the wheel of a vehicle with a cup of coffee in one hand and a phone in the other .

Best of all pedestrians being given precedence at road junctions .

On the road, your lucky in PT they ride the pavement some say its safer, but the speed they go , sometimes looking at their phones , its only a matter of time before they hit a child or a doddering old fart like they did with my missis the other day.

Then the other da coming from the land of the moving curtains, we approached the local cycle group coming towards us and a food delivery van overtaking them on a bend !

Well I was out on my push-bike today, as I over-took a car that was stopped on the side of the road, he decided to pull off, luckily there was nothing coming towards me and I avoided him, to say the least I turned the air blue and the bloke looked shocked when he realised I was there and stopped.

People abiding by the current Highway Code would be a good start.

Six cyclists travelling down the 4067 between Clydach and Morriston the other day. Not in single file. Holding up traffic. Cycle route 43 covers the exact same journey. Cyclists should absolutely be licenced, taxed and insured for using roads.

Incidentally, if a lorry is tailing someone down the M4 then they're obviously not driving fast enough.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Yes but the rules (at least until recently) said cyclists are not supposed to ride 2 or more abreast on high traffic roads, they were not supposed to obstruct faster moving traffic.

I won't deny there are far too many bad drivers out there, I see them every day. I was one myself, I used to drive too fast, take too many chances. I am both fortunate and grateful I never hurt anyone. These days I have a dashcam front and rear because although there are far too many bad rivers, there are bad cyclists too.

I see cyclists ignoring red lights even at crossings. I see them jumping from road to pavement to road regardless of pedestrians. It's not good.
For the record, I used to cycle to work myself, for about 18 months when I lived in Mount Pleasant I cycled to the enterprise zone and back 6 days a week so I do understand what cyclists see every day but it's not just drivers who are the problem. The cyclists will come off worse though so don't we ALL have a responsibility to be better?

Today I took the car out and I abided by the new rules.

As I indicated to turn right into a road, I signaled to the pedestrian to cross, so he ran across, the driver behind me showed his appreciation of my newly gained knowledge of the Highway Code, well I presume that's what the taxi driver was doing when he beeped his horn.

Two points if I may.
Its safer for a group of cyclists and for car drives if a large group ride two abreast + its not illegal
While eight riders riding side-by-side may take up 10 metres of road space, the same eight riders in single file will take up 20m, meaning it is more difficult and less safe for a driver to overtake.
(but that's only if you're a considerate car driver when it come to other road users such as cyclists which I'm afraid reading a lot of the comments on this and other similar threads many are not) .
but IF a driver gives a cyclist the space recommended i.e. passing onto the other side of the road when passing - then it's quicker and safer to pass. Obviously there's an awful lot of self important people in the world whose time is of an essence who must not be delayed under any circumstance .

"Incidentally, if a lorry is tailing someone down the M4 then they're obviously not driving fast enough" exactly for who are they not driving fast enough . the speed limit is just that , a limit.

Vehicles over over 7.5 tonne can drive a up to 60 mph which is plenty fast for a vehicle of that weight & size and watching the antics of some some called "professional drivers " 60 mph is way too fast.

Silent electric cars + cyclists = Disaster.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Silent electric cars + pedestrians = Disaster
Cyclists + pedestrians = Disaster
The amount of pedestrians who only use they sense of hearing rather than both vision and hearing is scary .

No it's not.

People cycling are asked to be aware of people driving behind them and allow them to overtake (for example, by moving into single file or stopping) when it’s safe to do so.

Yes but on high traffic volume roads or roads with higher speed limits cyclists were expected to move into single file for safety's sake.

The thing is, you can cause an accident and not be involved. I have seen several cars/drivers cause an accident and drive away blissfully unaware or uncaring about what they caused to happen.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

It requires a reset from every road user

The first time I did it the car behind nearly ran into me and he hit his horn hard and long. I ignored him and once the pedestrian had crossed, I drove off. This is why I have dashcams front and rear and why I have become a far safer driver.
I have an app on my phone that relays my driving to my insurer and they can base the next quote on it, they haven't brought that in yet but I hope they do. My insurance has dropped the last few years by quite a bit, what with covid and doing very much lower mileage. If they bring in the app properly it may come down again because according to my stats I'm a fairly safe driver.

I don't disagree but until every road user and I emphasise every road user starts acting in safe and considerate manner then , accidents ( a very loose term imo) and these discussions will continue to take place.

I'm a driver got Light goods licence as well so had to do all my theory, hazard perception all over after driving over 25 years I personally think we should all do it again because you pick up on stuff you didn't know just driving

Most car drivers just don't care everyone's in a rush just slow down and think of others I'm sure if you're a few minutes late it's not going to hurt you

I'm also a pedestrian do a lot of walking also cycling

Just think of others and have a bit of patience ffs

Jim.
When you go on a standard police assessment drive, they effectively let you drive the first 30 mins of the course, take you to a cafe then strip away most what you ve learned which is mainly bad habits

It is easier to criticise a man’s performance between the sheets than his driving.
Every man thinks he is a great driver

I thought I was a great motor cyclist then I was ripped apart. I was 40 yrs of age at that time and been riding for 24 years.

It wouldn't hurt if everyone has an assessment every 10 years we all got bad driving habits

Absolutely.
People take a basic test and then can drive unhindered for many many years

If you don't mind me asking, where did you buy the dashcams from, and did you fit them yourself ?

I'm thinking of having them fitted to my car.
