That 1-0 win in the promotion year came off the back of us being absolutely smashed 4-1 at Scunthorpe. Taarabt after 2 minutes then hanging on for grim death for the next 89.
I remember with about 5 minutes left one of their players (might have been Jacob Butterfield) having a shot from 30 odd yards where it seemed everyone in the stadium stopped and held their breath as it curved ever more gradually toward the top corner....before hammering off the post/bar and back into play.

I was going to Barnsley with the lad as my niece's boyfriend supports them. However, now it has moved, he can't go as he is gigging that night and the attraction of driving home from 10pm without seeing him is not that great, so we won't be going.
Incidentally, they are having a bit of a row with the council about their ground and it looks like there is some kind of boycott going on. The niece's bf is joining the boycott and was going to come into our end to maintain his boycott - sounds like a bit of a mess... | |
