So, with all eyes on Glasgow and COP26. How comfortable a position is it ethically for us to be sponsored by a fossil fuel company? My view is we should be asking them what their stance is in relation to reducing their businesses carbon footprint.

Their website, and their scoreboard advertisements at the stadium, outline their approach with their alternative to diesel for example. They are transitioning, as many of us will need to do. But with 90% of our homes fuelled by fossil fuels, and 95% if our cars by oil, we still need distributors of oil based products. Ask me again in 2030 and again in 2050

If we’re talking about the moral high ground I’d rather be sponsored by them than by online bookmakers.

And I completely agree with that. That and payday loan companies. And let’s face it Saudi Arabia has just bought Newcastle!!

I suppose our fan owned model chimes with doing the right thing, which was the origin of the question. Probably more a brand name challenge for CO than for Dale.

CO2 is 0.42% of the total atmosphere (420 ppm)
The UK is responsible for about 370m tonnes a year, down 40% since 1990, or about 1% of global output...China produces 7.5 tonnes per person. There are1,402,000,000 chinese people and 1100 coal fired power stations in China, so thats 10.5 billion tonnes, or 29% of all CO2 emissions, the US is at 11% and falling and India 6.6 %

Ergo, Crown oil is responsible for the square root of FA of CO2

If we could leave out the misogynistic and violent messages about an 18 year old girl with aspergers that would be grand.

Those numbers are unfortunately very simplistic. The UK (and every other countries) number is inextricably linked to the Chinese number.

We are all responsible for those Chinese numbers as we all consume "made in China" products. We can't have it both ways: if 'lost to China' production was moved back to Europe or closer to the product's marketplace, then the emissions globally would be better off due to the reduced shipping.

I'm not saying the Chinese or Indians are clean or trying to be, but just have a look around your home, and consider all your 'made in China' labelled stuff that you acquired - it's in that 29% + the uncounted shipping CO2 - a lot closer to home than you make out.
