Not sure I'd be singling him out for praise.

More please.

On similar subject, a few had written off Dozzell too, but two good games in a row from him.

Bare bones.

And Moses. Completely written off by some on here a few weeks ago but impressive in his last few appearances.

Good to see Gray on the scoresheet. He took his goal well and offers something different to Dykes and Austin.

An interesting stat from tonight. Gray touched the ball just 9 times in the match and didn't manage a single completed pass. But given one of those touches resulted in a goal, I'll say no more.

Yes i was one of them i thought to soft but he has changed my opinion he has grown so far. but i never called for him to be chucked away.

but as a goalscorer u dont need to say anything he did his job , ill tell u as center back at a decent level as long as the score was 0 our end i did a good job.

He averages ten touches per match. But his strike rate is 133 minutes, which is bettered by only a handful of other Championship strikers. He's a bit of a luxury though because he really doesn't do anything else.

I suppose if you have got Lyndon running around and pulling defenders around then there is scope for Gray to capitalise. But as a fox in the box he looks like has spent too much time ravaging in dustbins.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

He has now done twice ( yes i know he has 3 goals, but I'm talking about getting in behind) what he has been brought in to do. It was a superb finish from a superb ball. I was watching it on the red button, so ovs no replay's, so was convinced he was off side. Also I had no volume as, weirdly, the Bournemouth/Preston commentary was coming through. I never gave Dozzell a hard time, as he is a young lad, stepping up to a higher level. I have given Gray some grief, because he is an experienced championship pro, who should contribute more. Jury still very much out, but a very welcome winner tonight

players can only do what they are good at gray made a name for himself as a goalscorer when given the chance he has done that , no different to a thompson or a sami kojoe

I wondered if the flag was going up but on the replay on the official jerky stream and later on Quest, there was only one automatic arm raised by the defender he had got in front of and no suggestion of offside from anyone else. He had taken up a brilliant position and Dozell played a superb ball, that none of the opponents expected or could read in time. Excellent finish too. Was closer than I originally thought with the header as well.

Actually one of their midfielders does point to Gray before Dozzell passes but…. too late!

I thought he made several good runs in behind similar to the goal but the pass never came. He looks better suited to away games where we should have a bit more space to get in behind teams.

Also thought Austin was good when he came on, lovely chest for a Dykes chance near the end and his work rate and defensive work was really good

Also Having Gray up front allows Dykes to help out at the back. Which he did a few times last night.

I thought that as well.

Must have been a defender out of shot who was clearly playing him on side as players tend to appeal after every goal, whether there is a reason to or not!

No one complained after the game either so he must have been onside but like you I was sure he was miles off

Took his goal well last night, as he also did at West Brom. Was in the right place, right time for his tap in at Reading.

However, watching him in the flesh at HQ, I have generally been unimpressed. What I understood he had been brought in for (pace and movement up front and running in behind) I have see scant evidence of. He generally does not seem that bothered by it all.

Still early days and I am not writing him off, but so far a bit MEH. I hope he was relatively cheap I.e. Watford still stumping up most of his wages.

I was convinced I saw the Lino put his flag up as soon as he went through so didn’t even bother cheering until Cardiff went to kick off ?
Must be still suffering with post goal celebration syndrome since Sunderland

He showed for that ball as Dozzell received it in midfield. Very clever play. Just waved his hand and stood there to get it. Great finish. He's played so little football for a while but I think he's a useful player to have around and can clearly finish.

Never knowingly right.

I was watching on tv with my son - neither of us celebrated until it was clear it had been given - we were both waiting for it to be disallowed
